I never would have thought to stop here had my dad not pointed it out in passing. The sign outside says it all. 12" steak and cheese subs for $10. The portions are over the top. The meat is lean and cooked to perfection. No chunks of fat or gristle. Just tasty steak and seasoning. I tried to tight roll mine and eat it from the end, but I nearly dislocated my jaw trying to fit it in my mouth. I settled for a top down approach and managed to finish the whole thing with the help of a fork and short nap.
I ordered mine philly style with grilled mushrooms, onions, peppers, and mayo. The guy next to me got his philly style with chicken instead of beef. That smelled amazing, too. Doesn't matter what you get, just get yourself there and try one.
Also, I have to take a moment to give a shout out to the kitchen crew at Sub Central. I have been to hundred of these little grill shops over the years, but this was, by far, the cleanest kitchen I've ever seen. I went around 2pm on a Friday, and the place was immaculate. If it weren't for the constant line of cars coming into and out of the lot, you'd never know they just got their lunch rush. Amazing job, ladies. Your passions shows up in the product. I'll definitely come back the next time I'm...
Read moreThe subs are great, only one size, and that's big. No big deal though you get a huge sub. The only thing I can say is that their pizza steak subs could be much better than they are. They charge a lot and put absolutely no cheese, and hardly any pizza sauce on the sub. I mean come on its called a pizza steak sub for a reason. I'm a huge fan of pizza steak subs and not every place can make them or even know what they are. First off I had to take it back because when I opened it up it looked like a steak sub only, I even looked under the steak and didn't see anything. So when I got back there the guy said yeah it's under there on the bottom. Well let me tell you it wasn't a dam thing under the bottom but maybe teaspoon of cheese and I couldn't even see any sauce. So they put a little more sauce on top and the it in the microwave for a second. They could have a great pizza steak sub but I will never get one from there again. It's not that hard to make a pizza steak sub, for real. Steak, pizza sauce and cheese. Comon man. So never get that from there if you go because they dam sure don't know how to make one, very...
Read moreI wish I took a picture, but I had no idea I would be compelled to write a review about this unassuming diamond in the rough. Seriously, it’s in the rough….I rarely frequent Midlothian beyond chippenham pkwy, but I came out here to go to one of the best thrift stores in Richmond located in the same shopping center as Sub Central & decided to give this consistently packed sub shop a try. It reminds me of a Jersey sub shop, fast paced, pushing orders through, the random customer complaining & realizing they were wrong. Bread was fresh & soft, meat piled on. Fries crispy like McDonalds circa 1990. I ordered an Italian sub & fries & it was enough to feed my husband & I. We can throw down some food, so that’s saying something. I truly wanted to get double of both, but I’m glad I held off b/c the portions are oversized.
Side note, I wore a blue & white flowered dress, white bow in my hair, heart earring & pearls with white keds. To say I stood out is an understatement, but everyone was so kind & didn’t bat an eye. Don’t be shy b/c of the location, this is by far a Richmond staple that I’m ashamed to...
