Z Express — Restaurant in Richmond

Edit: 1/25/23 I ordered again, philly cheesesteak w/grilled onions and mayo. OMG! It is tye BEST I've gotten anywhere in Richmond! I had to call to ask them to remove lettuce and tomatoes, but I'm glad I did!!!!

Original Review: This place is also known as Krispy Krunchy Chicken in Uber apps. I ordered the philly steak and cheese sub with onions, provolone, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. I hate tomoato and lettuce on a philly, so I put in notes: extra xfeese, extra onions, NO TOMATOES OR LETTUCE PLEASE. then I added it to the notes at the end again too.

Cons:

1. not actually steak, but ground beef

Clearly, they didn't read the notes because it did NOT have extra cheese and onions, as a matter of fact, I didn't see any onions, only the shredded lettuce and tomato I didn't want. One last sort of complaint....it was not a philly steak and cheese. It is a ground cheeseburger on a sub roll. I gave 3 stars instead of fewer because even though the order was so wrong in so many ways, it was hot and fresh and tasted good. I was still able to eat half of it. However, once it got cold, the lettuce and tomatoes were too gross to eat and too gross to heat up so it went in the trash. Overall, I can't recommend them unless you call in your order to make they get it right and make sure you know what you're actually getting. I doubt I will order again, but I might. Someone in one of my Facebook food group recommended the fish here. I decided to try it in case there's a hidden gem of a hole in the wall to discover. The guys were very nice but that entire place is old and not very clean. It needs a good scrub down and some fresh paint. I ordered fish shrimp and potato wedges..still hoping for redemption. GROSS!! Everything was fried in the same old oil. The fish was clean and obviously fresh but could not be appreciated because of the thick batter and old oil taste...

Last night ordered a gyro and turkey sub. The food looked good but it was too cold to eat. This was not the fault of Z Express, it was Grub Hub taking almost two hours to deliver the food. Too bad, because the two guys I spoke with on the phone were sincerely nice and apologetic. Also instructed me to contact GH in order to help, as well as offering me a pick up option. Really cool place with sincere employees. Next time I'm gonna skip Grub Hub and just go pick it up. Good...
