I am writing to express my disappointment with the experience I had during my recent visit to this restaurant. As a regular fan of Japanese cuisine, I was looking forward to dining at Top Sushi, but unfortunately, the evening turned out to be quite unpleasant due to several issues.
Service Confusion: Our server repeatedly asked us—two to three times—about the food we had already ordered. This created confusion and disrupted the flow of our meal.
Delayed Service: After placing our order, we experienced an unusually long wait. Surprisingly, most of the food only began arriving towards the end of our dinner, which made it difficult to enjoy the experience as intended.
Excessive Waste Charges: We chose the Weekend All-You-Can-Eat option at approximately $35–$36 per person. While we were aware of the policy stating, “Excessive food waste will result in additional charges for à la carte items,” the server never clarified what qualifies as “excessive.” After the meal, we were shocked to receive a $15 surcharge for just four leftover sushi pieces. When we questioned this, the server appeared to exaggerate the amount of food waste and failed to explain the calculation clearly, which was frustrating.
While we appreciated the manager stepping in to explain the policy more clearly—something we respected and accepted—the situation unfortunately did not end there.
As we were preparing to leave, the server returned and sarcastically asked, “Are you happy that you won?” He then laughed it off, claiming it was a joke. I found this behavior to be extremely unprofessional and disrespectful, especially after an already frustrating experience. It left a very negative impression.
We understand and respect restaurant policies, including those concerning food waste. However, clear communication, fair application, and respectful service should always be upheld.
I hope you will take this feedback seriously and address the staff’s conduct accordingly. We genuinely hope to see improvements should we choose to return...
Read moreIf I could leave zero stars, I would. We came here to celebrate something special, but left completely disappointed. The food itself was mediocre and overpriced, but I could have lived with that if the service was at least halfway decent.
We were sat at the bar, which we didn’t mind—until we were greeted by the female bartender who looked annoyed that anyone had the nerve to sit at her empty bar. She came over with a sour expression, and we tried to lighten the mood by joking about the menu’s note that customers would be charged for “every rice not eaten.” We laughed about imagining them counting individual grains of rice, but she wasn’t amused.
I then asked what would happen if I didn’t like something, since I was considering the salmon skin salad (we chose the all-you-can-eat menu). Her response? A flat “I don’t know, nobody’s ever not liked anything.” Not helpful.
The menu states you can only order three orders of sashimi at a time. We placed our three orders, and she asked if we wanted ginger, wasabi, and soy sauce. Obviously, yes—those should automatically come with sushi in the first place. She brought ginger and wasabi but no soy sauce. Our food came, still no soy sauce. I had to ask again before it finally showed up.
By this point, her attitude had completely killed the experience. I asked to just pay for the six thin slices of fish we had and go to Ninja Sushi down the street. She charged us $16 for two slices of salmon and $17 for four slices of yellowtail—again, paper-thin cuts. She could have easily charged the happy hour price ($1.95 per piece) since it was, in fact, happy hour, but she didn’t.
The only bright spot? My husband is nicer than me and still left her a decent tip, though she’s lucky we left...
Read moreMy friend suggested Top Sushi for dinner and my husband and I were very happy he did. We were greeted when we walked in the door and given an opportunity to choose where we wanted to sit. We chose the booth seating. It was very comfortable. The restaurant was clean and the new twin waitress were very sweet and prompt. They work nicely together. It was happy hour and the selection was good. The crab puffs came with four in the order. Sometimes crub puffs can be to big. These were the right size. They were very delicious and one of my favorites in town! The sauce was a spin on sweet chili sauce. Whatever they put in it was delightful. I would recommend asking for that sauce with the Calamari! We moved on to miso soup which my friend loved along with the Monkey balls. The avocado was stuffed with crab, spicy tuna, deep fried and topped with Asian mayo. The guys loved it! I ordered the happy hour beef rolls with teriyaki sauce. These are the best I ever had. Sometimes beef rolls can be dry. It came with avocado stuff or carrot stuff. Both were amazing but the avocado was the star. My friend ordered the spicy tuna tartar and mmm they were awesome. My husband had the soft shell crab hand roll and a garlicky white tune roll. He didn't share his handroll but dang I really enjoyed the garlicky tuna. They prepared the garlic just right. The manager Carol was super great! She checked on us from the start while training new staff. We loved her personality and service. Thank you Carol for the nice welcome as first time customers, we will be back. Be prepared to leave here stuffed...
