It’s truly a shame that someone gave this very special, 5-star worthy place a 1-star review because they consider good chicken wings their benchmark for fine dining. If your idea of a great meal is really good chicken wings, there’s nothing wrong with that, and for sure The Prospector is probably not your jam. However, the food here is, in the very truest sense of the word, OUTSTANDING. I won’t even bother telling you what we had because I assume Chef changes his menu regularly. We were a party of 8 and I believe between all of us, we tried everything available that night; and EVERY single thing was a total home run; from appetizers to dessert – genius level food. Complex and unusual and doing things to your tastebuds that you didn’t even know was possible. Between the 8 of us, we have been around and have eaten many great meals at very expensive places, so we are not comparing this to Applebee’s or Olive Garden; Compared to other amazing and expensive restaurants, this food is at least as good but really, its just better. Hurry up and go here because I can’t imagine you will be able to have a meal of this level at these insanely low prices. Again, compared to wings: expensive; compared to other similar meals: unimaginably cheap. Based on that, I would assume this little experiment will not be as such forever. Your meal is prepared, single handedly, by a Master Chef. To be honest, that is really the only sentence of this, or any other, review that matters. Did you ever hear someone talking about their $2,000 meal at Jean-Georges or finally getting into French Laundry after their 6 month long wait to pay $350+ a head and wonder, wow what would it be like to eat at one of those restaurants?? Well, this is your chance. Ok, minus all the pomp and linens – this place looks depressing for sure. When you drive by, you wouldn’t notice it, let alone chose to eat here. The name on the building isn’t even correct….who knows why…but once you start eating you Will. Not. Care. Go here...
Read moreOkay, so now I know why all of the previous 16 reviews are five-star reviews. Admittedly, I was a little suspect before I ate here, but now I understand. This is one of those restaurants where there are four or five main entrees on the one page menu. And of course, all five of them likely blow you away. I had the salmon and it was outstanding. While I was eating here I discovered that everyone else in the room I was eating with frequent this restaurant because it is so good (the chef's also a well-respected veteran professional). So yes, all of the five star reviews were legit, definitely worth checking out!
Oh, and disregard the sign on the side of the building that says The Argentinian, or whatever. Trust the...
Read moreIn the journey of life, you come across people who take an incredible amount of pride in their craft. Chef Eamonn O’Hara is one of them. My family and I dine at the Prospector at least three times a year, and it is an incredible experience each time. It starts with the garlic in oil with bread, followed by the corn bisque, chicken, beef filet and salmon. But, the chicken is my favorite. I have never tasted chicken so good. The wine and cocktail menu is very good, and the desserts are the perfecting ending to a great evening. The service is at a leisurely pace, so plan on about 2 1/2 to 3 hours. It’s an experience, and...
