This is the second time this year that I've gone to a Ridgefield restaurant with my mother and we've come away with completely different experiences. This was her choice for lunch last Friday - she did a bit of research online and was intrigued by the pizzas. As soon as we walked in, I just wasn't comfortable. I found the interior to be super claustrophobic, especially because they still had the plexiglass separators up between tables (don't worry - I'm not going down a COVID rabbit hole here). The outside looked very spacious and edgy, and in hindsight I should have pushed for a table out there. My mother thought it was cozy. Of course.
I've been going through a bourbon phase of late, and opted for the Connecticut Meets Manhattan cocktail ($13). It's basically just an Old Fashioned with the addition of Sweet Vermouth so I'm not sure where the CT part of the name is coming from. I could be totally ignorant on that point though. I wasn't crazy about the first sip or two, but it did grow on me - it tasted like a really boozy cherry cola (I didn't notice there was a literal cherry at the bottom until I emptied the glass - a nice, flavorful touch).
We both ordered pizzas - I went with the Margharita ($18), while my mom opted for the Classic Cheese ($15). Overall, I was not a fan of this pizza, especially the sauce. I don't like chunks in tomato sauce generally, and it was super bland. The cheese was okay - I've had better, and I've had worse; I didn't really see anything that distinguished it as "fresh mozzarella" compared to the regular mozzarella listed on the menu for the other pies. The basil was a welcome addition to the palate, and the star of the show here was the crust. It had a nice, charred crunch to it, so the foundation is there to improve on this for sure. But honestly? If the name of your restaurant references pizza, it should be your best menu item by a country mile and it wasn't that good. For what it's worth, my mother thoroughly enjoyed her pizza and finished the whole pie except for a few pieces of crust (and yes, I admonished her for not eating the best part).
The experience teetered on the brink of negative, but what brought it back to mildly positive was the service. Our waiter was friendly and attentive, and every item was delivered to our table promptly. I honestly can't think of any constructive feedback that's needed in that area, which is a great sign. And as a result of that, I'd come back to try something else on the menu. Hopefully other places take their cue from that philosophy - the waitstaff has more of an impact on the menu than you think sometimes. And the price point was perfectly fine for the area. I'll probably get my pizza fix elsewhere in the area, but there's enough positives to make a second...

I pass this restaurant everyday on my commute and finally came here with my mom on a friday night. It was moderately busy but not fully packed. We sat outside near the fire place. They had a live musician singing and playing guitar which was nice. The servers seemingly forgot about us and no one came over to take our order. People who were sat after us had their orders taken and drinks served before us. Finally we asked a passing waiter if we could order. The waiter apologized for the oversight and they finally brought some bread for the table and took our order. We both had glasses of wine which were nice, and ordered a fennel arugula salad and pear, prosciutto and goat cheese pizza to share. The food came out relatively fast, the salad was excellent and very fresh. The pizza was just fine. I was quite excited to try it as Tivoli Pizza, the owners’ other restaurant, is one of my favorite pizza joints in Danbury. The dough was cooked perfectly and had a great charred flavor, but the toppings were lacking. There were big pieces of pear haphazardly thrown on, the goat cheese didn't add much flavor and the prosciutto had more of a ham flavor than I am accustomed to. We had an affogato for dessert which was also fine, nothing special. Overall, the food was fine, but their outside space is so stunning it doesn’t matter. I plan on going back and trying another pizza, hopefully then I could...
Read moreI normally love this restaurant. It is one of my favorites and I think it has the best pizza in Ridgefield, reasonably priced. However: my first meal dining out after quarantine was abysmal. We arrived and were told to seat ourselves. We easily waited 15 minutes before anyone came over to ask if we wanted drinks or water. Drinks came fairly quickly after that.. But then it took roughly 30 minutes for someone to come over to see if we wanted anything else. When we said we'd like some bread and our appetizer - bread came fairly quickly - but appetizer was completely forgotten. I would normally cut the waitstaff some slack (though it was only 7 or 8 occupied tables with 2 waitstaff), but they passed our table numerous times going to other tables and could easily have set our expectations to let us know why there was a delay in the kitchen - or even just refilled our water. The icing on the cake (no pun intended) was the arrival of frozen tiramisu - how about saying this was in the freezer and might still be frozen, would we like it anyway? I wasn't expecting it to be frozen (especially after waiting an additional 20 minutes for dessert). So for 2 people dining out on a Tuesday night - 2 hours. Not sure if I'll go there again for a while. I should have known because I tried calling multiple times prior to going and no one picked up the phone (which was why we decided to go out instead of...
