Have only been down here twice before because it's a little bit of a drive from home. Took the 45 minute drive down today on a Saturday to do something different, having seen a Facebook post about a new Hefe on tap, and also because we saw that The Chamo food truck was on-site, who we've purchased and enjoyed food from before at other breweries and we enjoy supporting their business.
We got down to the brewery to find a "Lot Full" sign, and were waved over to park in a lot by the road. We parked, and walked up the main parking lot to see plenty of parking spaces empty, but with small cones in front of them. We continued to walk towards the biergarten, which we hadn't seen before, and found it mostly full, with families and children basically everywhere. As we don't understand the appeal of children at breweries, we quickly turned around and headed towards the main building. (Sidenote: as breweries don't open to produce a product for children; the biergarten at least has tiny gravel for children to pick up and play with, which we quickly noticed already in progress.)
After reaching the main building, I went to order 2 beers, and found that the Hefe mentioned on Facebook was only on tap in the Biergarten. I also mentioned to the bartender that there were too many children in the biergarten, which was our reason for coming inside. I was told that there is a 21+ section in the biergarten, but I didn't see that through the family picnic fest there. I ordered 2 of the Pride of Ridgefield English style Golden Ale's, which were quite tasty and refreshing. We sat on the outside deck, and also enjoyed a couple rice and meat bowls from the Chamo food truck. The 2 beers we had, would be our only beers here, as 2 couples had 3 infants in the room the deck is off of, and selfishly enjoyed their beers and conversation as their children screamed and cried. As this noise wasn't enjoyable to listen to, we finished our beers, went to the bar, closed our tab, walked to the car, and found a smaller, quieter brewery down the road to go to and enjoyed the beer and ambience there.
Nod Hill does produce tasty beers, and in theory, is a nice place to enjoy a drink. Selfish parents that bring their children to breweries like it's a public park, playground, or amusement park, let them entertain themselves and irritate other patrons are the ones that ruin breweries for people that go to purchase and enjoy a brewery's product(s) and have a conversation not interrupted by children's voices. We will not be back again, as it wasn't worth the drive for the experience, which only seems to be a growing trend at every brewery with parents dragging their...
Read moreFantastic brewery. Sometimes I'm hesitant to post reviews of gems I come across because I selfishly don't want them to get known and get ruined, but I feel obliged after coming last night.
I've been to my share of breweries in the NorthEast (Treehouse in MA, White Mountain in NH, tons in VT, CT, NY, and Maine). Prices are modest, especially considering most of the live music is free. They have both a front entry space that is super chill (from high tops to large family tables to couches) and a backspace for bigger music events + outdoor sitting during good weather times. The backspace seems to have something happening every day based on the schedule that I saw posted. I'd would suggest lining up a visit with some live music.
Bartenders are knowledgable, friendly and attentive. They have pretty solid merch too. For a little town of probably like 20K people, this is a diamond in the rough. At least I know I would be tremendously grateful to have this in my town and worth the drive if not a local.
**I must call out a few of the negative reviews I read before I visited- a person suggesting we put children in a fenced in area, another saying no live music takes place- they have a schedule posted online of live music, which is typically like 3-4 days a week and it's listed all over the brewery, also another guy complaining about pricing, who is just insanely stingy- that’s the type of guy who expects others to always pay for him and this is the one time a year he pays for something- doesn't matter what it is (a pack of gum), he'll find a way to complain about the cost. Some people just sit on a pedestal and are entitled customers, then leave a poor review on such a terrific place. Seriously shame on them.
Lovin the vibes and energy of this place. Don't...
Read moreAttended outdoor concert last night with five friends and found the event civilized, mostly calm n refreshing. Venue is green, open air, old fashion beer garden and is right health approach in time of Covid.
I was stunned n pleased when manager approached me and said he would ask the band to look no cplease turn down their volume as I had requested as guests could not converse even when sitting side by side 50 or more feet away from stage.
Wow! They actually listened to sincere request.!
Also hate to sound like Aunt Polly but this scene is too stimulating for most the sensitive nervous systems of dogs and human infants as even volume turned down, the live rock n country music n human buzzing is way too overwhelming for either most dogs or infants. Please! Have mercy! Leave dogs and infants home with trusted sitters n spare them the nerve damage n anxiety. Mom n dad will relax better at venue with dogs n infants safely.home.End of sermon.
Ps love the pollinator garden! Management may.have to expand size of beer garden soon as seating n standing capacity was full early in evening. Nice...
