Disappointing Service Overshadows Decent Food

After a long 10-hour drive, we were looking forward to authentic Mexican cuisine based on the promising photos and reviews online. Unfortunately, our Tuesday lunch experience was marred by inattentive service and billing issues. The restaurant was quiet with only four tables occupied, and we were seated promptly. However, problems began immediately with our drink order. I ordered a small margarita, but my fiancé upgraded it to a large before the server left. When our drinks arrived, my fiancé also requested a Dos Equis. The food itself was good—we ordered à la carte—but getting basic accompaniments proved unnecessarily difficult. We requested hot sauce and water refills, but our server never returned. A food runner eventually brought our meals, and we had to ask her for the items our server had forgotten. The most frustrating part came at checkout. After we had to flag down our server for the bill and paid, he returned claiming he’d forgotten to charge us for a small margarita. My fiancé explained we had only ordered the large, not both sizes, but the server refused to acknowledge the miscommunication. While the food met expectations, the inattentive service and unwillingness to correct a billing error left a sour impression. There are too many restaurants with both great food AND great service to settle...

These are two reviews in one: 1st visit the server gave me a reasonable military discount. Due to this & their good food when relatives wanted to take me out I chose here. 2nd visit, I'm 90% certain that an owner or 20-30s yo relative showed his anger over that military discount or simply was turned off by our company, his day, whatever???

This was a very light day with almost no customers. My sister had to get plastic ware from her car. Otherwise, we'd have to eat with our hands. No discount was available, almost no server was available & the owner / relative maintained an attitude of disgust during our entire visit.

I was embarrassed to have recommended this restaurant; although their food on both visits was good. The server from the 1st visit was attentive & well deserving of the tip I gave, which was ~ + the Military Discount that I received.

It's been over a year. Based on recent reviews I'll give them another opportunity this Spring/Summer. However, there may be a trend (for certain people) in their negative reviews. If so I'll update with ABSOLUTE...

I’m being generous on that 3 star. Food tasted good they were just very skimpy on their meat portions in their quesadillas. When it was brought to their attention the waitress even said that was not the correct portion size and that she would get it straight. Well that never happened. Our waiter told me their was a new cook who was still learning the portion sizes. He told me they were not going to fix the issue but would discount my meal. The fact that I was still hungry didn’t matter to them. So my 5.50 quesadilla was discounted a measly 1.50 leaving me to pay 4.00 for a flour tortilla with 5 small bite size pieces of steak probably not even 2 ounces of meat. Shameful on their part. Definitely overpriced for the food you get. Might try it again but really not sure. Any food establishment not willing to rectify a situation to satisfy the customer doesn’t deserve...

Driving through South Carolina, we were lucky to find a great Mexican restaurant named Al Chile Mexican Grill in Ridgeland. Warmly greeted by our server, Marcello,Jr., he offered us warm chips and salsa while we enjoyed a cocktail and browsed the menu. Taco salad for my companion and chicken fajitas for me. Both meals were made with fresh ingredients and served with a guacamole salad and rice and beans. Everything was delicious and there was plenty of food to take home. This is a small business that’s doing a great job serving delicious Mexican cuisine. For a Saturday afternoon, it was very busy and that’s a good indication that they treat you right. Please give them a try! You’re welcome!

We heard good things about this place so naturally we tried it only to be disappointed. We placed a carry out order, only to get home and be upset about the fact we were missing our LARGE cheese dip. Okay fine it’s already after closing so we decided to eat and my quesadilla was nothing but tortilla. I opened it to maybe 2 sprinkles of cheese? Fine chips and salsa then…nope the chips are stale! If it wasn’t for my own shredded cheese and grocery store tortilla chips it would have been wasted food. But honestly over 40 dollars was wasted here tonight. If I could give no stars and leave a review I would.

I came here for a much needed drink and good food with a friend. We sat outside to enjoy the weather. The food was amazing! I had the Texas Dip and the Shrimp Chimichanga. They were both delicious. I enjoyed the sauce they used on the Chimichanga. My friend had the Papas Locas and the Salmon Bowl. Both were great. We shared a frozen Margarita Pitcher. The pitchers are definitely worth it and the margaritas are strong. I had Fried Ice Cream for dessert. Everything was delicious and the service was great. Our server was Marcello. I will definitely be returning!
