Pelican Cove Grill — Restaurant in Ridgeland

So I’m going to try to make this as short as possible!

Yesterday my sisters and I visited Pelican Cove for our weekly girls day out.

I ordered a kettle one with Oj and Pineapple juice, steak bites ( medium) and fries.

About 30 minutes later the steak bites come out. I cut into the steak and it was cooked well done. So I politely asked the waitress to take it back and just give me the lemon pepper wings. She abliged I must say our sever was great.

About an hour and 45 minutes later I was ready for my check. The server brought my check out and told me that the steak bites were still on there because the kitchen had cut into the steak and it was medium.

I said what? The piece that I cut into was well done. She proceeded to tell me that because they prepared the steak I was going to pay for it. I told her in that I didn’t consume it and I wasn’t paying for something that they didn’t cook to my request.

To my surprise the guy began cutting into the steak and saying see this piece is medium which it wasn’t it was medium well and I cut another piece and it was well done.

So I said you expect me to eat every other piece if I ask for medium every piece should be medium.

Then I said I don’t want it you can take it back and I’m not paying for it!

The cook had the nerve to tell me “ You didn’t want it when you ordered it!”

I ain’t gonna lie he hit my trigger and I told him you got me “F’d up”! What are you trying to say?

Y’all I didn’t sit there and eat half the food and give it back and suddenly decide I didn’t want it and on top of that I ordered something to replace it!

After being rude and walking off laughing and mummering something under their breath, they returned with another plate of steak bites saying they were on the house.

I don’t want your “steak bites” free or not! I told them I didn’t want them. The nerve especially after you have argued with me and accused me of wanting something for nothing! Go figure!

After all was said and done they took them off the ticket which should have been done to begin with.

My main question is why would you still have that plate almost 2 hours later? And why would you debate with a customer who never consumed one bite of that food?

The Assistant Manager along with the cook. The cook, baby she brought the cook out there… that’s who told me I didn’t want them when I ordered them!

I have spent a lot of time and money at this restaurant and I have never been disrespected like I was last night!

If you know who owns this spot, please let him know he really needs to reevaluate that night manager and his flip mouth “cook”!

The only thing good was the band that was playing would not recommend this place to anybody walked in stood around looking for somebody that work there to tell us if we seed ourselfs or they see us you cannot tell who works there nobody has a uniform finally some older man told us just sit where you want we sat down and waited 20 minutes before he saw a sitting there and me staring at him and he told some kid to take care of us a kid brought one menu said he would bring the other one in a minute we started with appetizers the egg rolls we're nasty sorry but have to tell the truth so my wife ordered the fried catfish which she could not eat said it didn't taste good I ordered the hamburger with bacon for a dollar extra okay and was charged $250 for it on the receipt. So my wife's catfish and fries come by some lady we did not order with the young man kept coming and filling our drinks and I figured they're busy so that's why I haven't got my hamburger yet so then he looks at me as he's walking down the aisle and walks over andsays you didn't get your hamburger I said no. He walks to the kitchen and comes out with the hamburger my wife had already finished eating what she could which was only the fries the hamburger was cold and there was no bacon which I was charged a $1.50 extra for which on the menu said $1 extra for bacon okay the hamburger meat itself tasted like metallic first I thought it might have been the onions were bad on it but I tasted them separately it was the hamburger meat the bill was $50 and some change I gave him 60 bucks because I know waiters and waitresses work for tips but if you want to spend your money and get some food that you can eat and does not taste like metallic go someplace else this must be the worst place to eat on the rez we were going to another restaurant over there but there was no parking and we said oh well let's go to this place now we know why sorry folks but your food is no good with food and service like this I can tell you will not be in business...

The food was relatively good here. Great atmosphere and live band, which is the reason I gave 2 stars. The customer service was horrible! We came with a party of 3. After getting our drinks, we then waited as our waiter (Ty) took the food order for a group of 10+ (to whom we knew) that came 10 minutes after us. When we acknowledged this occurrence, our waiter stated "oh, so now y'all are separate?" I responded by saying that we had always been separate from the other party. She then said, "well, if y'all are separate because you don't want to pay the 20% gratuity, just say that! You don't have to tip me." Without me being able to respond as to the reason why we were not dining with the other party, she walked off. She only returned to our area once, after 15 minutes and didn't even give direct eye contact or acknowledge the party at the table I was with.

It took 30 minutes to speak with the manager, Ashley. She apologized for this occurrence, but went on to say that previous diners had complained about her attitude. I went on to express to the manager that when you're in customer service, you shouldn't talk at the customers and avoid them after making that assumption. We never had another waiter show up to tend to our table.

I placed a to go order and waited 45 minutes after we finished dining before it was received. The company still added the 20% gratuity for our party of 3 inspite of, but considering that the gratuity was given to another waiter who was nice enough to acknowlege my request for drinks even though my table wasn't in her section, this was okay with me.
