Maroons Creamery - Hand Crafted Ice Cream — Restaurant in Ridgewood

I rarely, if ever, post a review, but felt compelled to do so in this instance. We took my mother-in-law here to usher in her 90th birthday. She LOVES ice cream and has eaten it all her life. Her flavor choices tend to be basic.

At Maroons Creamery in Ridgewood, the friendly server (I believe he's the brother of the owner) was so kind and let her try any flavor she wanted before she chose the "Cookie Fudge & Cream," which was described as "oreo infused ice cream with oreos and chocolate chip cookies, finished with swirls of fudge." Needless to say, she devoured the treat - right down to the yummy waffle cone - with a big grin and a sated belly.

This ice cream shop features inventive flavors with presentations too pretty to eat (almost). I chose the "Ube with Homemade Brownies" ice cream. During my next visit, I will be sure to check out their "Tea Floats" and other delectable shakes, like "Do It for the Gram," (bubble waffle + strawberry shortcake ice cream + strawberry syrup + graham cracker + chocolate stick and "Lady Luck" (two scoops of Tuscan trifle + tiramisu + lady finger + condensed mils + chocolate crunch).

This place has really disappointed me twice already. The first time I came, the door was open but no one was at the cashier. I called for service, but no one showed up, so I left. I decided to give it another try today. There were some customers ahead of me, and another group was still deciding and sampling ice cream. They let me place my order first, the girls at the cashier took my order and said she would call me when it was ready. I waited for about 10 minutes until the first group finished. Then, a new group that came after me was being served, and I didn’t get any update. I asked if my order had been started, mentioning I was in a bit of a rush, but the cashier said no…she would start mine after finishing with the customers who came after me. I ended up waiting 10 minutes for nothing. I told her I was canceling my order and left. I will never come back to this...
