Recently got the app, "Doordash", and was hunkering for some indian food for quite some time. My keywords for the search: pakoras and naan. No sooner did I find the page for this restaurant, "Tabla Fine Indian Cuisine".
Looking through there menu, my appetite grew. I not only orders a side of vegetable pakoras and garlic naan, I also ordered a DELICIOUS lamb rogan josh, and to wash it all down, a classic mango lassi.
I ordered around 6:45, and my food came at about 7:20, not too bad for delivery. The food did get a bit cold on arrival, but I did reheat my food. Let's start: I was craving onion pakoras, but there were simply "pakoras" on the app, so I assume its a veggie-medley pakora. It is strong on squash/pumpkin if you like that flavor...I'd give that a 4/5. Delicious, but that squash is filling!
The LAMB ROGAN JOSH was something I was looking forward to, because I've seen many people order it and say it's amazing. I loved it! Only downside? I wanted more meat! There was a lot of sauce to clean-up with the garlic naan, but I was done with meat (+rice) REAL QUICK. I think it's part appetite, but also part inflation. Whatever the reason it was gone too soon!
Lastly, I got the mango lassi. I put it in the fridge to get cold again. What can I say? It's a wonderful fruity, smooth drink that washes all the spicy food down and gives me a fresh palette. There mango lassi has a slight hint of cardamum, fyi.
Besides the meat issue and pumpkin-heavy pakoras, this place was a gem! 4/5!...

We were crossing Ridgewood/HoHoKus area and stopped at this place seeing its reviews. We ordered Lehsuni Gobhi, Tandoori Mushrooms, Kadhai Paneer Malai Kofta. There was nothing garlicky about the gobhi and they were pretty much gobhi Manchurian. It tasted fine. The tandoori mushrooms were the sloppiest mushroom dish I have ever had. It was marinated in tandoori spices and the chef probably attempted to grill it??? But failed terribly.
Moving onto the mains. Kofta balls were hard enough that it would break the wall I hit it on. Hard and not fresh. The kofta balls are supposed to melt in your mouth with filling of bits of paneer and cheese along with potatoes. Gravy was just OK. Kadhai paneer was the saving grace but the quantity was oh so little. The $8 naans, I’ll probably just skipping reviewing.
You can get away with food like this if you’re charging $10 an entree. If you’re paying $22 for a main dish in NJ, you expect more than substandard food.
I hope the owners and the chefs see this message and think about reinventing themselves? Indian food is so much more complex and I hate to see a restaurant sitting in such a cool neighborhood have...
Read moreIt was a very bad experience. So I work nearby to this restaurant and we decided to have Indian food so we ordered food for almost 10 people. First there were so many curries we ordered and they did not give rice and there was 1 dish missing in the order. when we called them back they literally argued and swear on god that they gave rice and the missing dish which they have not. We spent nearly 200K but they did not give a proper service. The payment failed in the beginning so they started asking my credit card detail when I said hold and give some time to understand if it goes through. It was kind of suspicious as if they really wanted my CC details for some reason. Coming to the food, it was either salty or not cooked properly. And lastly, when we went to collect the rice which they forgot to include, they instead argued and made a big scene. we had to head back to work and these people made a very bad impression in front of non Indian people. They should probably install cctv camera where they pack or keep food in bag if they don't have one. And if they have one they should've checked before arguing and creating a scene in front...
