New Star Restaurant — Restaurant in Rigby

It was explained to me that there are half a dozen restaurants or so in the Idaho falls area that are owned by the same group of friends and family.

It was recommended that I go to one of them and try a dish called pork and seeds. Chinese BBQ pork served cold with a side of ketchup, hot mustard, and sesame seeds. After looking online a little bit, I found that it's a regional dish of Idaho. Never seen it while living in Utah or any other state.

Stop at this restaurant around 1:30. The hostess was also the server. The restaurant was clean had and fish tank. They had a lunch menu which seemed very reasonable and that is what we ordered off of.

The food came out fairly quick We ordered the pork and seeds as an appetizer. The appetizer came out well ahead of the meal which was nice. The pork was very good. The dish was better than I expected, I would probably order it again when in Idaho.

Entrees were hot and fresh. My wife ordered Mandarin chicken with chow mein, the waitress explained that it came with celery and asked if that was okay which it was. When it arrived at the table we realized that the side was two parts celery for every one part chow mein. it was still good but it was surprising just how much celery they put on the plate.

If I could give 0 stars for this company I would. I was definitely discriminated. I have an OCD issue with my food touching. I got up charged $6.00 for the same amount of food on my separate plates than for the lunch special. The waitress did not advise that it would be all charged separately before placing the order. I got my receipt to pay and they wanted to charge me not $9.50, but $8.00, $1.50, & $6.00 individually. I said that I was not told this and her response was “Applebees does it too”. I asked to speak to someone else and she said yeah, then went to the back. She came out and said that they refused to speak to me. She said they will charge me the amount I was suppose to pay in the first place, but we are not allowed to come back. She copped an attitude from the first place from me asking why I was charged an additional $6.00. Really poor service and they clearly don’t care to tell people anything, especially the fact it does not state about being up charged...

I really like the food there, but the service is bad there children should not be able to help there customers at all. There youngest son asked if we were ready to pay 6 times in a row while we were trying to eat our food we received our food and 2 mins. later he asked us and we told him no after the 6th time asking over and over we gave him the credit card that we thought he would be giving to adult to run he got on a stool because he could not reach and he proceeded to run our credit card our meal was 12.00 and some odd cents he came back with the copy he had ran 1,012.00 yes one thousand dollars we were very upset to say the least it was pulled out of savings account to cover this charge I do not think that is right at all to have a child run anything in a public restaurant that is not OK.
