My wife and I went to this place for the first time last night. Looked like a neat place and the decor was great. But unfortunately that is all I can say that was positive. The bartender/waitress did not want to be there. Was not friendly at all. She said you can sit anywhere but all the tables had not been bussed. She went and cleaned one off for us. Used a spray bottle full of bleach. Hospitals only use a solution that is 5 % bleach. This was like opening a bottle of bleach and sitting it as a center piece on the table. The odor was over powering. She sprayed the salt and pepper shakers and the roll of paper towels. Why weren't they removed from the table prior to spraying it down. Who wants to sprinkle salt and pepper in their food that contains bleach?? The table was originally brown but over time the bleach had faded it to white. As we sat there for close to ten minutes and never acknowledged or asked what we wanted to drink and got sick to our stomach from the smell of the bleach we just left. Really disappointed. For several years I have heard nothing but great things about the food and the staff. To say the very least we were not impressed. Will not...

Our family used to love this restaurant. The food was always wonderful, the atmosphere was one of a kind and the service was fast and friendly. We went in January of 2021 (party of six) and got the worst service and food ever. None of the staff seemed happy to be there, including the one I assumed was the manager or owner(?) and she seemed the rudest/sourest of all. Our waitress never smiled at any of us, not even our grandson, who was 4 at the time and was trying to strike up a conversation with her. She seemed irritated we were there and that she had to wait on us (and the other two tables of patrons that were there as well). The food took forever to come out and across the table, it was either cold or over cooked. Needless to say, we were all disappointed that day. Not sure what happened to this place- new owner or management, I don't know- whatever it was, we have not been back since. It's been a while since our last visit and I hope things have changed but we will probably never know because the general consensus in our family is that we didn't feel welcome and it just...

The food was okay, the atmosphere was okay but super hot, service was okay a little slow but they didn't seem fully staffed so I get it, pricing on the other hand is outrageous. 84 dollars for 4 burgers, 4 fries and a kids corn dog meal. And if we would've known that fries didn't come with we wouldn't have ordered them, but the waitress worded it like they came with (which I assume was on purpose) instead of saying, "would you like to add fries or tots?" She just said, "Fries or tots". Idk maybe I'm looking to far into it but 84 dollars for burgers and fries in a super hot understaffed reastraunt is a...

I would not recommend eating here. They are NOT FRIENDLY. Only thing in town to eat at other than subway. We were passing thru town and wanted something to eat real quick. I got my little ones subway and then the rest of us went here to get something to eat. We walked in ready to order and eat when the ((old lady/ owner/mgr )) behind counter screamed loudly no outside foods aloud! Everyone stopped to look at her and us....extremely rude how her behavior was. The lady behind counter could have said more politely or said your welcome to finish that outside then come in and order. The food was ok but not great.

I saw this place when searching for something different. It was worth the travel. Roughnecks is a hidden gem. The food was great, the service was great. But the atmosphere was completely unique in a fantastic way. All throughout our meal we were noticing some artwork, animal or little trinket hidden up on the wall or back in a corner. There is an elephants head that is full life sized! This was such an enjoyable lagniappe I was happy to be caught off gard. We will definitely be back if near the area.

Stopped in after a quick trip to the Brazos/Whitney. This place was hoping on a Friday night...found out why real quick. 16oz New York Strip Baked Potatoe and a Salad. I am pretty sure that steak weighed 5 lbs. Awesome atmosphere in a historic building on Rio Vista. This place is a hole in the wall in a historic building in downtown. #elephanthead
