A Gem in the Heart of Ripley: Why The Grind is a Must-Visit
In the heart of Ripley, West Virginia, lies a true gem of a coffee shop, The Grind. More than just a place to grab a quick cup of coffee, this family-run establishment has quickly become a cornerstone of the community, offering a warm, inviting atmosphere alongside a top-notch menu of drinks and bites. It’s the kind of place that feels like home from the moment you walk in, where quality and care are evident in every single item they serve.
While I confess I have yet to dive into their full range of coffee offerings, I can personally attest to the mastery they have over their smoothies. My go-to choice, the blueberry peanut butter smoothie with added banana, is an absolute delight—perfectly blended, consistently delicious, and a testament to their high-quality ingredients. It's both satisfying and flavorful every single time.
But the delights don't stop at the drink menu. The food at The Grind is equally impressive. The ham and swiss bagel is, without exaggeration, an incredible creation. I always opt to add pickles to mine, a simple addition that elevates the sandwich to a whole new level of savory perfection. The combination of the warm, toasted bagel, savory ham, and melted swiss is pure comfort.
One of the most delightful aspects of visiting The Grind is the ever-changing selection of pastries. There's always something new and tempting to try, from decadent cinnamon rolls to perfectly crafted scones and cookies. You can tell these treats are handmade with love, and they are the perfect accompaniment to any of their beverages.
What truly sets The Grind apart, however, is the palpable sense of family and community that permeates the space. This isn't a chain coffee shop; it's a local business that takes pride in its products and its customers. The service is always friendly, and you're made to feel like a regular, even on your first visit.
For anyone in or passing through Ripley, a stop at The Grind is an absolute must. Whether you're in the mood for a fantastic smoothie, a mouth-watering bagel sandwich, or a sweet treat, you will not be disappointed. It’s a shining example of a local business doing...
Read moreWe were on a 9 day RV vacation and we were looking for a place to stop, to take a short break, get a coffee and some bakery items, and to sit down a moment to plan our driving day. The Grind came up on Google maps with great reviews when searching for coffee shops. We always like to try the locally owned, “mom and pop” places when traveling, and although sometimes this can prove to be a big disappointment, The Grind was right on target. The family owned shop sits on the corner of quintessential small town America, on the edge of the town square. The warehouse style interior is clean and well appointed. The staff were nice, the cappuccino and macchiato well balanced, the scones, delicious, and the price, reasonable. Highly...
Read moreMy husband and I are from Elkview, but stopped here on our way back home because we love trying new coffee shops! I got the iced caramel latte with oat milk and extra caramel. I also got a piece of coffee cake, which was definitely worth the price! Compared to Starbucks coffee cake, it’s WAY bigger. Service was very fast and staff seemed to know what they were doing! The only negative I can say is that the girl that took our order didn’t seem very friendly and said nothing to me when I said “Thank you.” before leaving. Still giving five stars because I understand that everyone has off days and regardless, the coffee and coffee cake was great! We can’t wait until...
