I've stayed at this location before. Really enjoy staying here. The hotel sits on a hill, and is away from the main road, shopping areas, and general noise. I like that. The property is clean and well kept. Lobby and desk area is very pleasing upon arrival. Staff is friendly, including housekeeping staff. I spoke with several staff members on this trip, and all were pleasant and welcoming. The fitness center, pool and whirlpool are conveniently located, close to the lobby, front desk, and elevator. It was nice to use both, which were in great condition, after a long day. The room was in great order. Clean, plenty of towels, pillows, coffee, etc. Very comfortable, with a nice view of the area. Also, very quiet. Again, I really feel confident staying here, and look forward to it.
Now, my only complaint, and it has nothing to do with the hotel, but the booking process. I called the reservation line. First, I don't want to be asked about promotions, etc. I want to book a room. That's all. I don't want to hear about options to earn more points. Especially when I'm sitting in my car, in a parking lot. It shouldn't take 15 minutes to book a hotel room. Finally, the lady asked how I'd like to hold the room (credit card). When I gave her the number for my Corporate Card, that I've used at all brands of lodging, in all different states, and at Holiday Inn on several occasions, for over 2 years, she said she had a concern about the card. She wanted to know if I had a letter of authorization, allowing me to use this card. WHAT?!!! This card is issued to me through my company! She said that I may have to have someone from the Corporate Office, who is authorized to represent the company, call to reserve the room, or sign for me, to get the room. I have NEVER had any hotel do that. And, as I said, I've had this card issued to me for over 2 years. I told her this, and told her that my company is based in Houston, TX, so there's no chance that someone would come to Ripley, WV, to sign me in. I also told her that there are other hotels in the area that would be glad to take my card, and book a room, if need be. She seemed flustered for a moment, then told me that she sees where this card is on file with Holiday Inn, and that it should be fine. Wow! Really odd. Anyway, the stay was great, after I was "authorized" to use my card. And, I'll definitely...
Read moreNew post: Absolutely horrible! I thought I would give this hotel another opportunity. I called hours in advance to advise that I was arriving with another person, but after 5:00 am. I asked for a late check out, because I have a medical condition that requires full sleep. So, they took revenge from my last complaint from after charging nearly $500(!) for 2 people, never gave a late us check out as promised, woke me up from a dead sleep just so they would not be inconvenienced, and nearly 2 hours before the agreed time. They gave us the wrong rooms(!), wrong beds that I did not purchase -- lessor arrangement. I called management to complain, but she just said that she was "sorry", but their checkout time is strictly for their own best interests, not the guests! -- as if that makes everything instantly fine -- but that we had to get out. I came downstairs, and she wouldn't even look at me. I asked why am I in the lobby and not sleeping, and she just repeated that she was "sorry" -- of course as a rehearsed superficial but anticipated response. It's all a scam. I told that I recognize that her needs are far more important than my sleep for another hour or so! NEVER STAY AT THIS HOTEL! NEVER, NEVER, NEVER! TOTAL SCAM! They overcharge, lie, and give super horrible service, not caring about their guests, who they grossly overcharge! Now, I have to drive 10 hours without enough sleep, and they could care less, and the ONLY care about themselves. Can't even use the bathroom or take a shower, because you must GET OUT!
Old post: Price is much higher than normal. The maid service wakes you up from a dead sleep just so they can make you leave your room, so they can clean it, and get their work schedule finished for the day -- which is THE most important factor from your paid-for patronage. The sleep and comfort service that you paid over $200 for, of just a single night is worth nothing, because the maid's preferences take far greater priority. Horrible! I will never stay at this location ever again, and I have meetings in town with other professionals within a couple of miles from this location, several times to come soon, and I will tell them to stay at a much more distant hotel with...
Read moreI called hotel for late arrival (after 9pm). Check in was quick. Got up to my room and as soon as I got off elevator I was hit with a wave of HOT AIR in the halls. Like a sauna. Room was very nice and clean. But carpets were totally WET. I assumed it was from cleaning so I was okay with it. And really just too exhausted to ask for another room. But when I got up in the middle of the night to use restroom I had to walk on wet carpet. Also noticed a lot of LOUD noises from halls and other rooms in the middle of the night: Doors slamming and people talking. So the quietness of the room was below average for what I paid. I was jolted up out of bed several times on both nights by people coming and going from their rooms and in the halls. Staff was great and friendly. My room key kept deactivating on it's own. I would park on the side to use the side entrance only to discover that my key would no longer work and I had to walk around the building with arms full to access front desk and obtain corrected keys. This happened three times. Location was great and easy access to high way. I would return again definitely but I think for the price the rooms could be a little better insulated against outside noises and most definitely a better way to check on carpet cleaning so that guest does not have wet carpet especially on late check in after 9pm. For the price I would think that some type of checks and balances would be in order to avoid such thing. I did tell front desk and she blew it off telling me that it had just been "cleaned". Well thanks for the cleaning which is important, but don't put a guest in a room with wet carpet please. She could have at least offered to move me to a dry carpeted room. At any rate the hotel was good, a bit over priced but would stay...
