Whatever service/friendliness issues there were from previous reviews appear to have been ironed out, as every staff member was energetic and engaging. We were immediately greeted & seated with a lake view. Offered water while we selected drinks & given the details on the specials, which rotate.

We've driven by so many times without realizing what we were missing, thinking it was just a lakeside bar. I'm so glad we decided to swing in once hearing about the "not bar fare food"

Seafood in North Dakota, ehhhh, how brave do you feel? We started with shrimp stuffed shrooms. It only comes with 3, but they are piled high & tasty. It turns out we really didn't need an app tho, as I'm currently eating my boxed up food while I'm writing this review.

I honestly haven't been in such a personable place in a long time &, no, we aren't regulars or locals. We were given a tip to come back for seafood Sunday- maybe... maybe...

The beef was all tender & juicy - cooked to a perfect med-rare. The hubs had the hanger steak & I opted for the lavash special- which was a BOGO - buy the Philly & get a seafood version free. Veggies were all fresh, no canned/frozen soggy stuff here, nice & crisp, plus house made soup... torttilla was the current offering. The seafood topping was impressive: 2 sizes of shrimp, scallops, crab & mussels

When we were checked in on, my response to "is everything tasting ok?" was simply "wow" with an "I know, right?" bounced back.

It's definitely worth a stop. It came to just under $100 for the 2 of us with drinks, app, dinner & a FULL spare meal for us to split for...

Came here expecting a great meal from all the positive reviews but it was far from that. We arrived at about 8:30 and there was a couple large parties that had already received their food and it took the waitress 20 minutes to even notice us and when she finally did she came over took our order and it took here another 20 minutes to get our drinks and she said your food is on the way it'll be here shortly. By 9:40 she comes back and says we are out of chicken we need you to pick something else so my niece orders a burger and then finally at 10:00 they bring half of our order and without the bread it says right that you get right on the menu. No silverware and they were so disorderly and unorganized that no one knew what was going on and by the time we had 3 different waitresses and got all of our food it was definitely not worth the wait. I will never return or...

Waited hour and half and No food, freezing in the restaurant, hardly any service. Wasted the our entire evening here. Finally after 1 he 40min wait we we’ve just about to get and leave when we decided to get ask one of the waitresses about our food and she replied “2 minutes”. The biggest issue that could’ve been resolve early is just to come to our table every 30 minutes or so to give us some sort of update. The lack of communication left a bad taste in our mouth. HOWEVER, the food that finally arrived was……. Absolutely fantastic! Delicious! The steak was cooked perfect! The red potatoes were great!, and the fried pickles were surprisingly good! You’ve change this review because of the food. Please in the future for your customers sake just update them on time it will be better then absolutely no communication at all! Thank you...

Arrived to the lakeside establishment on a beautiful Saturday at 4:00PM when they opened. Sat at the bar, where the friendly staff took my drink order, handed me a menu and told me their specials. I went with their prime rib special that came with corn, baked potato, and I upgraded my salad to the optimus prime rib soup. My food arrived at 4:22, and the 16oz medium rare prime rib did not disappoint, it melted in my mouth. I soon found myself in a man versus food situation, but managed to clear my plate. I paid my tab, loosened my belt and hopped back on my motorcycle for a nice ride home. Will be taking another visit again, for sure!

The Iron Oar is an experience rivaled to no other! A must stop for the area, and a gem in our small town state. The menu is a more like a work of art, carefully crafted and well thought, and each dish has its own signature flair. Highly recommend the bloody Mary’s, nice tap list including some craft options, and ask for Annie’s Blue Drink if you’re thirst for something tropical! My band MoonCats has had the opportunity to play music at the Oar for years, and we are always treated so well with generous hospitality. This place is family run and owned, and it shows. A local legend, you’ll have to stop by to get the full picture!
