I ate at the evening buffet the Monday after Easter. I am well aware of the limitations of the buffet during this long remodeling period, but having said that, even my low expectations were exceeded. The meal offerings were incredibly poor quality and certainly not worth the slightly reduced cost. Everything was just starch, starch, starch. I watched as the restless attendant continuously squirted a yellow colored artificial butter into the mashed potatoes and then stirred it in. Why make mashed potatoes even more unhealthy? Most people would not realize how much additional transfat had been stirred into those potatoes. Then he would pour more gelatinous gravy over the turkey chunks when he wasn't messing with the potatoes. Corn was provided as the vegetable. - more starch! My plate looked like a prison dinner. I gave up and went to get a piece of cake, hoping to raise my spirits. I get back and touched my fork to it, and it bounced right back! The cake was so dry it was hard and brittle! It had to have been cut for Easter dinner the previous day and just kept out, it was that dry! My companion gave her plate back to the server, saying she could not eat it. I thought you have chefs to supervise the buffet - I think a good home cook could do a much better job. I hate to pile on, but the meal was just plain insulting it was so bad! I would have been embarrassed to offer that to paying customers if I were the chef/manager.
One other aside. Jumer's Casino did a remodel of their casino buffet in about 2-3 days and accomplished the same things - new vinyl, new carpet - in that time frame. So far I am completely underwhelmed at the look of the remodeled buffet after all this very lengthy remodeling. Everything is just gray and more gray! I will reserve judgment until it is all done but what I can see so far it may not be worth the time and expense. I would trade it all for looser machines and...

The buffet itself was a feast for the senses. The variety of dishes available was truly impressive. From fresh salads and seafood to mouthwatering meats and delectable desserts, there was something to satisfy every craving. The food was not only plentiful but also of exceptional quality. One aspect that stood out to me was the impeccable cleanliness and organization of the buffet. The staff constantly ensured that the food stations were well-stocked and presented beautifully. The layout of the buffet made it easy to navigate and allowed for a smooth flow of diners.
The service at Robert's Buffet was top-notch. The waitstaff was attentive, friendly, and always ready to assist with any requests. They were knowledgeable about the dishes and provided helpful recommendations. I truly felt like a valued guest throughout my dining experience.

Read moreInside Rhythm City Casino and Resort, Robert's Buffet is one of the restaurant on the campus, serving all you can eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. I was there for the dinner. Basically, it is a nice clean and well appointed space with very good to excellent service but only mediocre food and food service, except for desserts. During the International Day emphasis, there were only a handful of cliche international dishes (Chinese, Mexican, Italian) supplemented by all American favorites of mediocre quality. Good vegetarian or seafood dishes were sadly lacking. Salad bar was subpar. At most of the serving stations when I asked about the specific dish, they said it was very good. When I asked if they had tried it, they universally told me no. So no personal experience with the dishes, just a corporate expectation to extol the virtues of their offerings. Refills at the service stations were slow and seldom. The dessert station, on the other hand was full of great dishes with a few mediocre exceptions. The gelato display was very nice with great service but the gelato itself had only distant resemblance to its worthy origin. When I asked about the characterless coffee, the server said, she had never tasted it. All she could tell me was that it came from a big machine and that she had been trained to operate the machine, a not too complicated procedure. Basically you don't have much of a choice at the resort. Either, it is this buffet or the another pub food outlet. If you want to splurge, there's Ruth's steak house on sixth floor. Robert's is likely the result of being the lowest common denominator and therefore, predictably mediocre. One visit there could be enjoyable, it is not repeat...
