Excellent southern comfort food and Roanoke's only roadhouse! The Coffee Pot is a slice of southern history carved out of the old days of Roanoke in the 1930's. This historic landmark lies on what used to be a country road leading into the city from southwestern Roanoke County.
The best item on the menu is easily the house smoked pulled pork BBQ with homemade BBQ sauces and secret recipe coleslaw. The lunch buffet is offered Monday through Friday. It often includes a generous choice of southern dishes including, but not limited to, pulled pork, steak, fried chicken, meatloaf, green beans, corn, and mashed potatoes as well as a full salad bar with at least one soup and dessert.
The staff is friendly, but also rough around the edges in a good way. It lends some charm to the environment of a roadhouse. Don't expect the kind of treatment that you would get at a fine dining experience. Expect employees that get to learn you and your tastes while providing a bit of humor and sarcasm. This place is definitely not for folks who can't take a joke. Food service is prompt and courteous of your time.
Not only does this roadhouse serve up great history, food, and service, but it also serves as a music venue. From hard rock to karaoke and rap to country, there is almost always an entertaining evening activity at the Coffee Pot.
Keep in mind that the entire roadhouse is considered smoking with the exception of the one small table in the foyer. This appeals to the usual clientele, but those sensitive to it might take issue.
Overall, the Coffee Pot is an excellent southern tradition. Stop in and try the BBQ! You won't be...
Read moreI do like your establishment and would love to come to future shows you have, but the only reason I won't be coming back is due to the fact that you allow smoking inside your facility. I am allergic to cigarette smoke and so being there was kind of hell for me. I kept having to go outside for fresh air. Even the band members were complaining about trying to play on stage with no fresh air. I truly think it would be best for your company to have a designated smoking area. Weather that be a room all to itself just for that or make the bar area the smoking area. That way those who do not smoke or have allergies can enjoy bands too. The smokers are the ones who choose to do that, so they should have to be the ones to go outside or to a designated smoking area. Also, your bartender has a very bad attitude and is pretty rude with anything she says. She also doesn't know how to make most drinks. It seems like all she wants to do is pour people a jack and coke or hand them a beer and ask for anything more substantial than that gets you a dirty dumbfounded look and a hateful attitude. This place...
Read moreI grew up visiting this iconic Roanoke bar. The beer was always cold, and I saw many live music shows there. I would even hit the lunch buffet while working for a very reasonably priced and tasty meal occasionally. Fast forward to now. In this day and age, allowing smoking anywhere and any time, you are going to attract one crowd, and it's simply one most people just don't care to be around. On a recent visit my wife and I were literally the only two people not smoking, both inside and out. Listen, I grew up in bars where the smoke was so thick it banked down off the ceiling, but in 2023 I'm not sure how that is a viable business plan. The place now just seems tired and very run down. And if you're a non smoker, you will have a headache, and feel the need for a shower immediately as you enter the building. Even dive bars need to progress with the times, and The Coffee Pot simply has not. Maybe an old smoker's crowd can keep it going, but for most people these days, and including myself, it's just not a fun place to spend your...
