I am in love with this place! As reccouring customer, I want to start off by saying I have never once been disappointed with each and every visit, as much as that may sound like an exaggeration, it truly is not! My boyfriend and I truly enjoy this restaurant through and through.
Coming in, there is a warm lively atmosphere in the air which feels fresh and inviting. I am greeted with a friendly and very accommodating staff. No matter the busyness, they greet with a smile. The seating and restaurant may be small with its always plentiful of customers, although despite that, they try their best to be swift and accommodating as possible making sure you get a seat within several minutes. The staff seems to cater to your needs without even having to ask at times!
Atmosphere/Staff: 9/10
Now, with the food, Ive had Vietnamese cuisine several times in different places before.. let me say this spot’s taste in flavors are phenomenal and outmatches any other spot Ive been to before! There is so much flavor and you can taste the passion the chef has for the food he makes in every dish he has served to us. We start off with the bulgogi fries as an appetizer as well as my favorite, Pho soup with extra beef. My boyfriend who comes with me, usually orders the pork Bahn mi which he is highly satisfied with, so much so he puts it as one of his top favorite sandwhiches. He even acclaims that the food can equal to how much he feels about his own mothers cooking which is a statement for sure! I even joked at the fact that if I had enough money I’d have this chef as my own personal chef one day! Haha. :)
Food: 10/10
I also want to put that this restaurant isn’t strictly Vietnamese but also serves a bit of Japanese cuisine as well! Sushi appears to look fresh just as much as the ingredient add-ins for the Pho. I’ve tried the Japanese Chicken Ramen and would say it is highly flavorful just a bit more than the Pho itself that already gives such satisfying and delicious flavors. I definitely recommend this spot, a great place here in robinson township. My boyfriend and I will hold this place in our hearts when we leave Pittsburgh. Thank you again for the food you’ve served. We are very grateful with...
Read moreBanh mi, bun dac biet both are quite sad. Banh mi is nice, but too much meat is not enough balance with the rest of the fillings. Not enough do chua. For the bun dac biet, it's not as exciting, and the grilled pork is way too sweet. It's not very authentic.
As a vietnamese american who grew up in a very vietnamese setting, this food is very sad. My immigrant parents said it's disappointing.
The sushi should be very easy and simple. Instead the rice was bland and tasteless. And the chef used oversized cuts of avocado slices.
Most importantly, the nouc mam that was included is straight up fish sauce. Wtf. Is nobody tasting the food the make? Are you that confident? I am quite pissed for the price I paid for i expected simple authentic vietnamese cuisine.
The only rules I follow is if vietnamese people don't eat there, it isn't good and today I find out in person it is not good. Everyone say it's good. But no vietnamese say the same.
This is first and last time and honestly, it's outright a scam for the price...
Read moreMy son took me out to dinner. He knew I wanted to try out Saigon88. It did not disappoint. We got the fresh spring rolls. They were very fresh, and the filling and peanut sauce was really good. The rice paper was kind of tough though. So I just ate the inside, lol We also both got the pork Bahn Mi sandwich. It was good. On the sweet side. Roast pork. Warm. The chef surprised us with an additional Bahn MI, the traditional Dacbiet. I loved it. Cold. Roll was fresh, and it was very tasty. The best thing was the Phoenix Roll. Super fresh and delicious! A word to the wise, they add quarted jalapeños to most of what we got. So by the end of the meal our noses were running and mouths were burning, lol. I may have asked to either leave them out or cut them back to half, but I left the ordering to my son and was unaware until it was a little late. Overall, we really enjoyed our food and hospitality and will return to try some...
