I've lived and had mexican food in Texas, New Mexico, Colorado. I've eaten mexican food in a lot of other states. I've also been to Mexico to eat, like a dozen times. This was my second time here, and I won't go back. The first time was almost edible. This wasn't. The chips are thick, tough, and cold. Salsa is very good. My husband ordered a burrito. It was presented like a foil torpedo on a plate. JUST a burrito. Nothing else. Could have been from Chipotle, but they add more meat. Dry, tasteless, mostly rice and lettuce, and unmanageable to eat. I ordered carne azada, one of the most expensive items. We tried to get soft tortillas to eat with the salsa and butter. I got 4 tiny corn tortillas wrapped like Taco Bell with my meal. No butter for the table. Nothing. They don't have water glasses. You pay for bottled water. My meat was well-seasoned, but so thin and overcooked and dry it was like jerky. The beans were straight from a can. The fried jalapeno was a nice touch. I love fresh jalapeños. But my second bite absolutely put my mouth on fire. Everyone knows you quench capsaicin with butter or sour cream. You can't get either there. The best part of the meal was the draft beer, and I can get that cheaper elsewhere. I don't expect true mexican food up here, but I do expect quality, amenities, and a decent meal for 30...
Read moreI’ll start off by saying service was good. We were greeted as soon as we walked in, seated right away, and our server was super friendly and attentive.
The food, on the other hand was not good. It started with the chips and salsa. The salsa tasted… off, I guess? Like it hadn’t spoiled or gone bad, but it didn’t taste like a traditional salsa. That served as a harbinger for the rest of the meal.
This is a taqueria. You would think the tacos would be top notch. Not in this case. We got steak tacos, expecting shredded meat or “hand carved” as the menu said. Instead we got… have you ever seen a can of minced cat food? It literally looked like that. Room temperature and with too much cilantro. I’m not entirely convinced that it wasn’t microwaved. Adding insult to injury was that they had a picture of an amazing-looking taco on the wall near us. It was a real-life “expectation vs reality” situation.
The entrees didn’t fare any better. Quesadilla was soggy. Carnitas were tough, and the refried beans were runny, or watery.
They had mexi-Coke, which was a plus.
All told, we thought we’d have been better off having Taco Bell. We’ve eaten at other Mexican restaurants and even in Mexico itself. This was nowhere near that, which is unfortunate because we’re looking for our new go-to Mexican restaurant. The...
Read moreCustomer service is terrible. Four of us shared the street corn, and two people who never ate it consumed their piece. The other two of us noticed this didn't look right. The other customer photos on Yelp shows cotija cheese on it, which street corn is supposed to have. There was NONE on it and barely any sauce. When I brought it up to our server, she said she can bring us a side of sauce and cheese. I asked that it be remade, she said the cooks would take ours back to the kitchen and put sauce and cheese on it. I immediately said no because it's a health concern, to take my food I touched, then back to the kitchen to be touched again, and back. I asked for it to be taken off the bill, and she said the manager said he would take 50% off the whole meal. I was surprised, I only wanted the corn off, but thought it was very nice of him. When I got my bill, only the corn was 50% off. I asked to speak to the manager to explain there was no cheese on it. So I'd like the corn taken off. He said the "type of corn they make uses a tiny cheese that is salty, so they only use a little." I said there was no cheese at all, he argued there was but it was tiny. Apparently they use invisible cheese. He said because the two other guests at our table ate theirs, he can only compensate 50%. He...
