First of all, they only do cake doughnuts. If I am going for doughnuts, its not for the cake doughnuts, although I do buy some cake doughnuts and done RIGHT cake doughnuts are great. This review has nothing to do with their selection of only cake doughnuts, but I think their website should at least state that (it does not). I bought 6 when I was there and only 1 out of 6 was spectacular. That 1 doughnut was light and soft, like a good cake. The flavor was also spectacular (It was caramel with candied almonds I believe). The rest of the donuts were far too dense, had no flavor, or had bad flavors. For example their cinnamon roll had stale/chewy cinnamon toast crunch on top which was absolutely disgusting. Their goji berry with cranberry sugar was so dense and tasteless I didn't finish it. To their credit, the vegan doughnuts taste no different than the regular doughnuts. Finally, I find it very hard to believe that the reviews are so positive. Everyone I have talked to has had the same review and that is "Meh." I have 1 out of 5 stars because 1 out of 6...
Read moreI first heard of Drift Dough though social media and decided to check it out. They have unique flavors for donuts such as Chai Tea, Cotton candy, Thai Tea, Pomegranate Raspberry and more. These types of flavors first attracted me to Drift Dough to begin with. To be honest, the donuts are underwhelming compared to places like Krispy Kreme and Bloedows. The donuts to be seem really dry and often times the flavors arent really there or anything like what they are named, save for the Orange Dreamsicle which is my personal favorite. Hopefully down the road the donuts are improved upon, but they're not horrible. Interestingly enough, my favorite part of Drift Dough is the Nitro Cold Press coffee they offer. I usually have to drown my coffee in creamer but with the Nitro I don't have to add anything at all. Pricing is more than fair, the staff are always smiling, and that's more than enough to keep me...
Read moreAdorable bakery that shares a space with the Old Abe restaurant. We tried all the vegan donut flavors (the blueberry and cinnamon sugar were our favorites, but the flavors rotate). All the vegan donuts were cake donuts; I was kind of hoping to try a raised donut but unsure whether that’s just not the focus or if it just wasn’t in the rotation on the day we went. Also ordered a Vietnamese iced coffee which was tasty, and a matcha lemonade which was a bit too bitter and sour for my taste but might just be personal preference. Very colorful & eclectic, plenty of outdoor seating in the back but it was cramped inside when we went on a Saturday morning. Even though it was busy we got our order pretty quickly. There’s not a parking lot but we were able to find parking on the street with relative ease. We will definitely be back to try some more...
