Maro & Calal Boutique and Cafe — Restaurant in Rochester

Was excited when I entered, but left sad

I just learned about this nearby cafe, so excited to have a place to go for a treat.

Obviously my first visit, but absolutely no help from the worker. I don’t expect him to fawn, but at least being willing to talk about what I can spend my money on? Treats are “things in case” drinks were “all the coffee and all the tea” and smoothies.

Having left I just saw reviews say they have an amazing in-house tea- why not mention that??

Now- the owners did an amazing job at creating a place with an atmosphere that invites you to sit and chat all day. Cozy seating A+ We did have a smoothie with REAL mangos. Real fruit! That was 5/5.

Too bad a great setup and one good drink will not make me want to go back. I’d you do, check out the other reviews so you know what you want...

Perfect cafe located next to a Masjid, I'm visiting from out of town and happy to know this is conveniently located so I can complete my prayers.

I ordered a milk tea and malamax (flat bread) and fish sunbusa, my first time trying Somali snacks and i love the stretch and light sweetness of the malawah, reminds me of a thicker crepe or chapati

The fish sambusa is vibrant and full of spices and flavor, not spicy at all. Just really...

I just stopped at Maro & Calal for takeout this evening. As I walked in the door, I was overwhelmed by the mouthwatering smells, the friendly patrons, and the overall uniqueness of their deli and boutique. Please stop by to visit Muhammed if you get a chance, he owns and runs a wonderful establishment with delicious food. I will make this a regular stop next spring when I begin camping in the area again. My only regret is not knowing about Maro &...
