Pee Wees restaurant. — Restaurant in Rock Island

Pee Wee's has become a weekly staple experience for our family. I call it an experience because not only is the food phenomenal, but the owner and his staff ensure a pleasant interaction. I am from New Orleans, LA, and am a bit spoiled when it comes to food. Pee Wee's has unmistakably mastered the art of amazing Creole and Cajun dishes, which is unheard of in this geographical area. My family has ordered approximately 85% of the menu items and has not been disappointed. When our extended families visit from New Orleans and Waterloo, they always want dinner or lunch from Pee Wee's. Being a NOLA native, born and raised, one would assume the food was prepared in my own kitchen. It's just THAT good!

When visiting Pee Wee's, you will be joyfully and pleasantly greeted. You will enjoy the vibe, the energy, of the people and brick and mortar building. It's cheerful with "good ole" Mardi Gras themed colors.

Most importantly, Pee Wee's is an active part of the community and as an establishment, they take their role within the community seriously. That, alone, is reason enough for me to want to support the restaurant....besides...

So Disappointed. This place is around the corner from work, and I'm a huge fan of red beans and rice, so I was excited to give it a try. I ordered ahead, and requested a 'cup' for $5.35. I allegedly received a 'bowl' and was charged $7.50. The container it's in is roughly equivalent to a 1 cup measuing cup. This is overpriced at $5.35, so to find out it was $7.50 was painful. Adding insult to injury, the cornbread is an additional charge. It's only 75 cents, but after paying $7.50 for the beans, it's a smack in the face. Topping things off, the beans were not warm, and the cornbread still had a chill to the touch, as if it were baked yesterday and refrigerated overnight. After giving it all a warming zap in the microwave, I can report that the food is really good. I gobbled it down quickly. But I did not get the amount I would have expected for the price I paid, and I am unlikely to spend like this again when, soon enough, I can hop over to Popeyes and get twice the beans for half the price. I had a taste for some good ole down south soul food ..so I googled soul food restaurants near me and this was the first one to pop up..I said ok let me see what the people think...and everyone pretty much gave them five stars...I dropped in to see what was happening and I was wowweddd....from the gentleman that took our order to momma coming out to have a small talk with me...I was very impressed with the service that I received and chileeee The food made me wanna run up and down the dog gone street 😂😂 😂.... y'all when I say the food is definitely delicious 😋...that's all I'mma say ...go try them you won't be disappointed...and the prices aren't bad either....they took care of my daughter and I ....
