At first it seems like a nice dining restaurant until the big screen tvs start blaring with football. I had to ask to please turn off the volume so I could hear my lunch companion. Our server was a nice man but couldn't even offer me water. She got the chicken crepe which was really yummy ($8) but didn't even come with a lettuce leaf. I got the tomato basil soup and loaded fries without the bacon. The 'soup' ($5) was more like pudding and I took half home to think out. The tomato basis flavor was very basil. The fries I sent back twice so don't even get me going on them. They were like fries at MacDonalds and about the size of 2 small ones and because I asked for them to be a little crisp they came almost like crunchy burned sticks ($5). Total waste of $14. If I had gotten the crepe like my friend I would have given a totally different review. I'm sure you've guessed that I am never going back there. (I read all the reviews and discovered that the people who had a good food experience were more likely to have had dinner, and the reviews where Cedar staff commented were only the really good reviews. Apparently if you had a problem, they don't want to acknowledge you which is a bad sign because we need to learn from mistakes and get better. So no 'we're sorry you didn't have a good experience...thanks for letting us know' for any of you two stars people. And the people who had fajitas and brisket, etc. could not have been there for lunch because I wanted something but it was only a dinner item and I wanted fajitas but they only have flour tortillas (no corn) which...
Read moreWow! I am literally so happy to share this review. We recently decided to try this new restaurant in Rockaway Beach, having watched it come together as the building was being renovated from its previous iteration, and having enjoyed yummy food from its food truck version (like a preview)-- I was not sure what to expect when I walked inside...but wow. It is beautiful. Clean, spacious with a Ozark-style nautical feel based on the choice of cedar wall embellishments and furnishings, dark blue carpet reminiscent of water, and various marine-themed decorations. I also LOVED the choice of streaming ambient video with gentle music-- calming and engaging. It's basically a series of videos on location made with drones, and they are fun to watch, seeing places around the world (and maybe pretending to kayak, wakeboard, or ride a train!). And the food-- my husband and I both went classic and had burgers for this outing, and they were some of the best burgers we have had in a LONG time. Later, we connected with the chef, who, as it happens, we are acquainted with, and now it is no surprise why the food was so tasty! DEFINITELY GOING BACK. If my review seems too positive, you just need to know that I was truly so delighted to see something this lovely and valuable in Rockaway, and I am really glad for it to be there! It's nice to get to share a great review, and they deserve it. Also, I was super happy to learn that like the food truck, this restaurant is connected to a not-for-profit organization--and I love the idea of adding value to other...
Read moreI really hate having to give these types of reviews because I really want to see locally owned restaurants succeed.
That being said, be prepared for a restaurant that's nicely decorated, good atmosphere with TERRIBLE SERVICE. The staff is very nice, but from the time we sat down to the time we received our food was OVER ONE HOUR. There was a group of about 10 and a table of 4 ahead of us - that's it. We both ordered the double cheeseburger, we were not asked how we would like it cooked so we didn't ask, figuring it was similar to many restaurants in the area that cooks their hamburgers well done as a standard. In the photos you will see that my burger, with visibly thinner patties were cooked well done while my husband's was cooked medium rare. For the price point, the food was not exceptional and was certainly not worth the wait, honestly, I could have made lunch at home in less time. The staff never refilled our drinks. We were offered free dessert, but we declined. If you come here to fellowship after church before you eat, you're in the right place as you'll have plenty of time; if you're famished, you should go somewhere else because you'll probably starve to death before your food is served to you. When we were ready for the to go box and our ticket, we pushed the call button SEVERAL times but we waited over 15 minutes before going and asking for a box and our ticket. It would take A LOT for me to...
