China Buffet — Restaurant in Rockdale

I visited for the first time, and was promptly greeted by a friendly woman. After I had ordered some food for takeout, she asked if I was new to the area because she had not seen me before. Indeed, I am fairly new to the area, and this was my first visit (I'm sure just the first of many visits). When I asked for a to-go menu, I was also given a beautiful calendar.

When I got home, I was amazed by how appetizing the food looked. I love that the hot and sour soup is unlike the soup you get at most other Chinese restaurants. Their soup has a little thinner consistency, but is so rich in flavor, and filled with veggies and tofu. They don't skimp on the red chili flakes, either (which I like, but may be too hot for some).

I also ordered crab rangoons. I didn't notice how many came in an order, and was pleasantly surprised to pay what I did for so many crab rangoons (8).

The chicken and black pepper sauce is delicious! The chicken was cooked perfectly. You can see that it had been pan fried at one point, but the chicken was not at all dry.

Finally, I ordered the fried Chinese bread (Chinese donuts). The outside of the bread was perfectly fried. It had a nice crunch. And the inside was light and airy. Too many times, I have had them overcooked (resembling something more in line with a hockey puck), but these were perfectly prepared.

You seriously have to try this buffet, it’s delicious. I was a little sketched out by the outside appearance & a random buffet. I ultimately decided to give it a try because I saw lots of locals going in & out, even taking to go orders. So I figured the good reviews were accurate. Anyways we walked in & immediately saw the workers refilling the buffet with fresh food. They were constantly making fresh food & refilling anything that was empty the entire time we were there. The flavors were great, they have some good cooks working here. Everything was delicious. The restroom & restaurant are clean & the soda/water is really good. Don't let the outside, building or inside itself turn you away. Do not judge the book by the cover or you'll miss out. Very good buffet. Don't miss the hard ice cream in the chest freezer up front. I didn't know it was there until 4 visits in. Even the sushi is good which I normally wouldn't touch on a buffet. Our 1st visit we weren't so impressed. The food was warm at best & didn't seem fresh.
