Coronas Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Rockdale

All tables dirty. Nobody there but us, 2 senior adults and a toddler. Food came out fairly quick and was hot a good, except crunchy rice. “Dr. Pepper” was not normal DrPepper… generic maybe… nasty. Exchanged for tea which was excellent. Adult #1 had ground beef taco plate… reports that is was “ok”. She didn’t like her chair beans, but I did. I ordered a “child/senior” crispy ground beef taco plate. It was ok. Shells kinda thick. Rice crunchy. Waitress served food, exchanged my bad drink and disappeared. Sister had to get up and go find her, after we called out several times. (Politely!) She was about 6 feet from us on the other side of the divider at a table rolling tableware. We have NO DOUBT that she could hear us say, “hello”, “excuse me” and “could we get our ticket”. (Yes! We were VERY POLITE!) Finally got our ticket after 30+ minutes, and a to go box (for the rice and lettuce, for the chickens). At register… she had charged for fajita tacos, instead of crispy tacos, also charged senior plate as fajita tacos, and added an up charge for that, AND added an “up charge” of $1.00 because I ate it! Same food, extra charge is crap. 1.) I AM a senior citizen even if I don’t look like one. (Thanx!) 2.) An “up charge” for any plate that doesn’t change is theft. 3.) If she had questions about my age, she should have asked. WATCH your ticket if you go here. They are sneaky thieves! THREE extra charges on 1 ticket isn’t an accident. We caught her and made her correct it and she was defensive. Didn’t realize until we got to the car that she had actually left one of the charges on there. ROACHES... multiple ROACHES!!

The food wasn’t bad and our server was nice and did everything she could to help even though it was her first week working.

Our problem came towards the end when a friend eating with us pointed out the roach on the wall right behind my husbands head... he had already finished his dinner and was holding our 2 year old so he just moved to another table next to us away from that wall. I tried to ignore it and finish the little I had left to finish. Not even a minute later I realized it wasn’t ONE ROACH there were THREE!! All right there close and more combing out of the top of the wall by a pillar thing. We told our waitress and stopped eating she came back very apologetic and said she told the manager. Her manager on the other hand just seamed annoyed it happened, like this wasn’t the first time. I understand bugs happen but 3 roaches right there with each other mean there were plenty more! I really don’t know where to begin . The food is bad a zero NOT Mexican food . They definitely need a Mexican cook . He came out and asked how I wanted my enchiladas. I told him to sauté the tortilla in oil then roll the meat in it . Still didn’t get it right. I asked if it was just ground meat or picadillo they said just meat . NOT true the ground beef had onion and bell pepper. True Mexican cuisine has jalapeno, or Serrano . They soft fry the tortillas before rolling them to make enchiladas. Anyway long story short I was asked if I wanted anything else everything had black pepper even the pork chops which leads me to believe that everything is cooked in batches nothing fresh. Which obviously if you can’t make pork chop with no seasoning they are already cooked. Don’t waste your time or money. You would be better off microwaving a banquet enchilada...
