Schiro's Restaurant & Lounge — Restaurant in Rockford Township

Absolutely Horrible.... Someone please call "kitchen nightmares". Thankful we couldn't see into the kitchen but, could just imagine. This place won't last long. The food isn't good, the waitress can't take an order and doesn't come back to see how things are, didn't even ask us if the food was ok when we were paying the bill - seriously! Double charged for things and they had to be taken off the bill. I gotta say, it's the first time in years, I couldn't find one redeeming thing in a place - NOT ONE THING! They must not be reading reviews since it seems that they are rated really low anyway - Hint, Hint!! I think they brag that they were voted Best Pizza 5 years ago. Well, it's certainly not the Best Pizza that Rockford has to offer and a lot can happen in 5 years so maybe they got their buddies to vote it in. If you haven't been there before, it's not worth the money or time to go. Any Rockford fast food restaurants are higher rated than this place is and would be my go to place when in that area unless you know of a good restaurant. Oh and by the way, we were a large group that were shoved into 3 small pushed together tables, talk about cramped seating and the rest of the dining room was pretty much bare. 8pm weds. No dining guests, a few at the bar. Asked about the specials, just one. No soup. Ordered spaghetti 1 meatball. Comes w one. Ok. Mostaciolli, light sauce, no meatball. Tossed salads, comes w bread. Owner stops by, introduced himself. We mentioned it was our first visit and we were looking forward to dinner. Salads were unimpressive - Literally looked like they tore the lettuce over the 2 plates, looked like he got one end of the lettuce leaf, I got the other, stalks. A few halves of cherry tomatoes, maybe a cucumber slice or 2. Then our dinner arrives. His spaghetti has light sauce. My mostaciolli is swimming in sauce with a huge floating meatball. Server says, oh sorry. I saw his has light sauce so they put more on. I said I can't do this much sauce, she brought me a spoon! to help me get my noodles out. So much. The final issue - nice warm bread came with cold mini butter pats. Ugh. 1...

The Lady on the phone did not tell us there was an up charge for fries instead of chips. Super rude management when we tried to explain to them that this should be something your told when ordering and we shouldn't have to pay the additional since it was not told to us that FRIES were an up charge. To save the customer interaction MOST places would have taken the $6 off as a courtesy instead of giving excuses about how there "new employees" don't know to do that when taking phone orders, or that the minimum wage just went up. NONE of that is the customers issue or problem. Train your employees to take orders CORRECTLY over the phone and explain up charges to customers. Cause we probably would have just gotten chips had the girl on the phone said something. We were going to go to opshols and REGRET ordering schiros...
