Old review from late 2024 going into winter time of 2025....

I never been in the new location so I can't rate on the Atmosphere of it.

But those chicken tenders with the gravy on it!!!!!! So good!! So good that we can have it for Sunday dinner.

This was the first time I've got it with the gravy actually on the food. I wish y'all did it like that ALWAYS!!!!!!!!!!! We no longer order the fries because of the gravy always being on the side.

Please talk to your higher ups about having a "on the side" option for take out. I know I would NEVER use it. I want all the cheese, gravy and chili on my food. NEVER ON THE SIDE!!!!!!

If you're passing through Rockingham, NC and looking for a classic diner-style experience, Hwy 55 Burgers Shakes & Fries delivers on exceptional service and a clean, welcoming environment. The staff here are friendly, attentive, and quick, making the visit enjoyable from the moment you walk in.

The restaurant itself is well-maintained, giving off a nostalgic, retro vibe that’s perfect for families or casual diners. Cleanliness and customer care definitely earn Hwy 55 in Rockingham five stars in that department.

However, when it comes to the food, it's a bit of a mixed bag. The "Lil' Sub" sandwiches are extremely small, so be prepared if you’re expecting a hearty meal. And while the chili cheese fries sound tempting, the cheese sauce lacks flavor—more of a bland addition than the rich, creamy topping you'd hope for.

Overall, I’d return for the service and the environment, but not necessarily for the food. If Hwy 55 could step up the flavor game, it would easily become a top go-to spot...

We came in sat down, we were given menu and drink orders were taken, drins were delivered then the waiter walked away. There were 2 male waiters that seemed lost and slow. 45 mins after our drinks were delivered I had to call out to the waiter for our order to be taken. The womens restroom was in horrible shape and had no toilet paper. We watched as people came ordered, ate and left. Finally we got our order that had been sitting up there for at least 10 mins before it brought out. The only thing hot was a grilled cheese. Needless to say this was the worst service we have ever received. And it will be quiet a while before I dine in this...
