Heading home after a great weekend trip to Rockport, wanting some mexican food. We pass up a few Taquerias to try Original Vallarta since it's a mom and pops business and always busy when we passed by. We sit down and order our drinks, we order 3 sweet teas and a small lemonade. The place is hot and smokey. The waitress takes our order and as we order our plates with bacon, she tells us we have no more bacon, so that's fine, we order sausage patties instead. I think they should have had plenty of stock considering it is a holiday weekend and would be busy. Just after our order was taken, a group of 8 sat next to us and their order was taken along with a bacon order. Mind you this was within 20 minutes that we waited for our food to come out. We finally recieved our food and after that never saw our waitress again. It was myself, my wife and my 19year old and my 5 year old,March plus our 8 month old, total of 5. They do have signs up staying gratuity of 18% added to parties of 5 or more. We go to register to pay and ask an older lady about the bacon and she speaks English more spanish. She clears it up ans states they had just got bacon 30 minutes ago. Then we see our behind the counter which offer hears our conversation then asks the lady in spanish what did I say with an attitude. Overall, food was good, BUT MAIN ITEM, ESPECIALLYESPECIALLY FROM A MOM AND POPS PLACE IS CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEN BRING CHARGED GRATUITY when 5th person is at trader...
Read moreI rarely edit a review but my experience has changed. My husband and I have eaten here many times is close to our house and the food was good. Unfortunately this restaurant is inconsistent. The food got more sloppy and not as delicious. We decided to get dinner here tonight and added a chile con queso to our taco plates. The tacos were not as full of meat as usual and the beans tasted a bit over cooked. We opened the chile con queso and found a half piece of chip in there. When I called she told me to bring it back and she would refund our money. When I arrived at the restaurant she took the queso and got a spoon and began to tell me there's no chips only cheese, jalapeños, and onion but this was no onion it was the bottom half of a tortilla chip. She argued with me, saying there's no chips in it and it was homemade, threw my refund, which was short, and closed the window. I will not return to the restaurant or continue to recommend it to people not because I had a small issue but for how...
Read moreThey charged me all these random charges .50 for takeout on one plate .75 for take out on another exact same plate. Ordered 2 street taco plates at $12.99. Ordered half a lime (2 pieces) was charged a dollar. So a whole lime for $2 ? The the time it was said and done I paid $36 for 2 street taco plates plus a $5 tip bringing it to $41. At the bottom of the machine printed receipt which was for $27 was scratched off and hand written $36. Confusing right? I asked the manager and she yelled at me then walked away and brought back a quarter for me. The difference in the to go boxes. Then she realized I Ordered half a lime so she took back 2 pieces out of the foil and gave it back. That's how I ended up with 2 slices of lime for a buck. Very disappointed with the rudeness and the random overcharges. Tacos were good but not worth the hassle. Lots of places in town have good street tacos. Tried this place 3 times..each a fail....
