China Kitchen — Restaurant in Rocky Ford

One of the ladies that works here she has a son is such a sweet lady always been a pleasure to speak with her however the other lady that works there is not so nice I’ve called previously to place an order and try new foods just to find out that nearly everything I asked for was either not on their menu anymore because they don’t update their menu or they were waiting for a shipment that hadn’t come in so I decided to give it another try today and I wanted to know what they were waiting for to be refilled in regards to the food and which items again were no longer on their menu but the lady did not want to tell me any details she said just to order and she’ll let me know if we have it or not so I just let it go after she hung up on me decided to go ahead and order what I always order and they usually have so after I place my order hang up the call she calls me back and tells me that they do not have the main item from my order at this present moment which was the whole reason why I wanted to know what they did not have so I could order accordingly and not waste anyone’s time needless to say I will never recommend this establishment to anyone and I highly advise anybody against attending this establishment until they can get the employee to be more customer service friendly and not hang up on customers and also to update their menu so customers know...

This was my first visit to China Kitchen. I have ate at the other Chinese places in Otero County a couple of times and have honestly was disappointed so I was a bit nervous. I drove to Rocky Ford this Sunday to go to another resteraunt, but it was closed for a long holiday weekend. I drove by China Kitchen then decided to turn the car around and give them a shot. I was very pleasantly surprised with my lunch. Hands down the best value priced lunch in the whole county! Fried rice was plentiful and not dry. The almond chicken had a bit of a sweet aroma which kinda through me off a little, but once I started eating it made sense. Eggdrop soup was very warm and had good flavor. Under new management, the menu drastically reduced from 3 pages to 1. Ordered 2 platters. Husband ordered Kung Pao Chicken, which he said was "ok" but the SWEET and SOUR CHICKEN WAS HORRIBLE!! The sauce was good but the chicken was WAY OVERCOOKED! So much so that it was hard and crunchy and the chicken inside the breading was hard and tough to chew. I wound up giving it to our dog!! The "Egg Rolls" in the platter as described in the menu aren't eggs rolls, they're "Spring Rolls", there's actually a difference. The Egg drop soup it came with was bad too. Added white rice and soy sauce to make it better... WOULD NOT...
