Kafe Louverture Nc — Restaurant in Rocky Mount

Kafe Louverture is a great addition to downtown Rocky Mount! This Haitian place has great food and great service! One of the owners, Anthony, was behind the counter when we went in for lunch. Anthony was an absolute joy! He was very helpful with the menu and very kind. Now, one thing to keep in mind is that this is not a sit down restaurant. This is a grab and go place. If you are looking for a quick bite on the go, this is your place! They specialize in Haitian patties which are like croissant dough stuffed with different meat and veggies. These pastries were delightful! My personal favorite was the chicken, with the ox tail pulling a close second! Now, I will say that me and my coworker both tried the herring patty and did not care for the flavor in it. It was very strong and the fish almost tasted like it had been salt cured. I’m sure some people would love it but it was not our cup of tea. All in all, I believe Kafe Louverture is here to stay! We love seeing a diversity of food options being represented here in our city! Best pattie I've ever had. I have lived in the Caribbean, and worked my portion in food service, let me tell you, when they say they pour love into their food, they mean it. The sweetest family running the place, and it shows in their food. The amount of effort they put into something that's meant to be eaten on the go, is more than any of us deserve. It's like having a grandmother cook for you. Make the trip. Stop in. Say hi, and feel at home. The flakiness of the dough, the amount of filling, the pepper sauce, it's all with love. I decided to try something new while downtown and I am so glad I did. I tried the oxtail patty, the chicken and cheese patty, and the chicken soup with plantains. I regret not getting more. The chicken soup tastes like it can cure any ailment with the force of love that is imbedded in it and the oxtail patty is pure heaven. The chicken and cheese patty is addictive!
