Wow. This place is so beautiful on the inside and so unsuspecting on the outside. The interior is modern yet traditional and always so thorough: burlap covers for cutlery, painted plates and tea bowls, rug textile tablecloths, Kyrgyz music playing. It is wonderfully immersive.
Those are what you first notice. Then it is the hospitality: our kind and attentive waitress Adina was so so helpful and chatted with us about everything! She was an amazing addition to our experience. :) And I’m still thinking about her secret ingredient in the tea….
But, (most importantly) the food, is also amazing. I am a bread Lover. That samsa and lepeshka was soft and pillowy and perfect with the sweet carrots on top. Lagman is always amazing but the egg on top takes it to a new level, hearty, spiced, and still light with all the fresh and crisp vegetables. Plov had amazing meat and so nice with the chickpeas and spices. Our rice was slightly firm but we came in the last hour so no complaints. Borscht was amazing! It was one of the only things I had tried for the first time. It reminded me of my mothers squash soup but with beets. I understand why that is a staple soup in Central Asian & Russian households. It is warm, sweet, rich, and still light. Faiza special salad was great aswell.
To wrap this all up, you will not be disappointed. I URGE you to get the honey cake and tea to wrap up your meal. You will feel so refreshed by the mint and lemon, and the creamy honey cake will bring you back to earth. Give this place a chance it is a gem...
Read moreThis unassuming spot tucked away in a strip mall might be easy to miss, but it’s definitely worth a visit for anyone looking to explore Kyrgyzstan cuisine. The place has a cozy, traditional vibe with just six tables, making it intimate but not cramped. There’s plenty of parking available, so access is easy.
The food is fantastic. The Tashkent tea, a blend of lemon, mint, sugar syrup, and black tea, stands out with its refreshing honey and citrus notes. For something hearty, the Boso Lagman, a noodle dish with beef, onions, bell peppers, and Chinese cabbage, delivers great flavors and a satisfying portion. The Samsa, which is similar to beef patties, is delicious, though it’s worth noting that the price is $4.99 per piece rather than for three as shown in the menu.
If you’re in the mood for something fresh and healthy, the Oriental Salad—a combination of bell peppers, tomatoes, beef, and cucumbers in soy sauce with sesame seeds—is a perfect choice. And don’t skip dessert—the Honey Cake, layered with cookie crumbs, honey, and sour cream frosting, has a great nutty flavor and turns out to be a traditional Russian-style treat.
With friendly service and a laid-back atmosphere, this is a hidden gem that I highly...
