First and last time going here. It was a clean, colorful themed place with great people working here but the food quality is just not there unfortunately.
I ordered the flajta dinner fairly priced but the steak was flavorless and very over done, so chewy my jaw was getting tired chewing it down. It came with 4 tortillas which I was able to make 3 decent tacos out of the whole platter. It came with rice which was moist and not dried out but again was flavorless. Also it came with beans which were barely warmed (picture shows how cheese not even melted on top of the beans showing how it was on colder side) They have 1.50 mini taco Tuesdays (steak, beef, pork) I got 1 pork and it came out so dry and no flavor i had to drench it with hot sauce to enjoy. My mom got the red enchilada dinner which comes with 3 enchiladas but after trying to cut into the one it was so burnt on the underside we had to ask for a new order since they were all burnt badly underneath. They had no problem replacing it but when they brought the replacement out, they only replaced 2 since my mom took a bite from the first order. Not only did they bring out 2 over done enchiladas again but why wouldn't they replace the 3rd as well if the first order was all burnt. Lastly, their horchata is poo here. It taste like bubble gum after chewed for 10 mins with a mild flavor if you know...
Read moreWe made reservations for Cinco de Mayo for 6. When we arrived, the table was set and ready for us. The restaurant was small, but cozy. I honestly did not expect much. Was just hoping to have a few margaritas and hopefully some decent food. I was pleasantly surprised! The chips and salsa provided to us as we browsed the menu was delicious! Not too hot and very tasty! I ordered a cucumber margarita and others at my table had the strawberry and lime margaritas. They were all yummy! Then the food came...excellent! My friend ordered what he jokingly called the Mexican French dip and loved it. Others at my table had steak and carnita tacos and enjoyed them. I was disappointed they did not have the tamales advertised on their menu and opted for the posole instead. Can I just tell you that it was AMAZING! The broth was so delicious! The heat was spot on and I wish I had more as I type this! We ended with fresh, warm churros. The wait staff was also taking phone orders and orders at the counter. They were busy, but it wasn't difficult to get their attention when we needed them. The owners came out and checked on us several times and were very nice. We definitely found a hidden gem and will...
Read moreWe decided to try La Tortuga because of all of the great reviews and the fact that it's close to home. It wasn't all that I read about. I can say the burrito was delicious and so were the beans, and they were ample servings. However, my dinner was supposed to come with guacamole and I had none. My man's was supposed to come with beans and it had none. I found a pea and a piece of corn in my steak burrito, which left me feeling uneasy as to how these items would get in a steak burrito. My man found a piece of something in his steak and chorizo burrito, an unknown item that doesn't belong in a burrito. We also ordered some queso to try and it was that nasty cheese in a bag. There was nothing real or authentic about that. We won't be trying this restaurant again, and I'm sharing this review with you to keep you from going through this as well. The restaurant has potential if they actually clean the dishes they're cooking in, get some uniformity in their meals, and certainly don't serve cheese in a...
