China Dragon — Restaurant in Rootstown Township

Mixed review... First, this is a cash only business.This is fine, but if you order online there is an option to pay with card upon arrival. Paying by card is not an option upon arriving. Cash only. I would have stopped at the ATM before arriving if I would have known this. I had to leave and fight the impossible five o'clock rootstown traffic to get money.

I've only been to this place twice, the last time was long ago and maybe I didn't understand exactly what he was asking, but I think both times he asked me if I wanted my coin change back. Um, yes. I feel like a cheapskate saying yes I want it, but yes, dammit I want it, lol. Like, I think that is an odd thing to ask.

The prices were fair, but two items I didn't want to eat so that negates the reasonable prices.

The food... The fried dumplings were delicious. The filling was fresh and they were fried to a crispy perfection. The chicken mein fun was also very good. The egg roll was disgusting. It looked greasey and tasted like it was fried in rancid oil. I had to spit it out. The beef with broccoli looked good. The broccoli was good, nice and crisp. The beef was another story. I spit that out as well. The texture was way off. Tough as a shoe, the color was weird as well, more grey than brown. The fried rice was moist and tender and tasted fine, but it was orange in color and very few veggies in it. Like a couple peas and that was it.

Overall, I would recommend with hesitation. I definitely would get the fried dumplings again and the mein fun was worth getting again. But having to spit two different dishes out was not a pleasant experience.

It's hard to find good Chinese food around here, or any Chinese food for that matter. So give it a try, take cash and steer clear...

I have ordered here three times so far and everything has been correct and great. It is more reliable than the one closer to me and I am willing to go out of my way for their services. Their food is good or as one would expect from a standard Chinese (America) restaurant. The guy running the shop is insanely nice and quick! He always likes to double check and make sure he got the order correct. On my last visit I accidentally ordered the wrong thing and he was quick to help me correct my order. He even took it off the bill, added an extra of the item I wanted, and gave me a 10% discount! It was hard to accept such a generous offer but he insisted. I highly recommend eating here as the man deserves...

Double check - visually! - your order before you leave, every time. The guy getting my order right is the exception and not the rule. Plus if you forget to choose what size you want your order, you're getting large, whether you like it or not. Even if you're standing right there as he's reading your order, with nothing better to do than to answer questions, he's not going to ask for a clarification; you're getting large, paying for it, and liking it. When you're the only game in town, I suppose you can get away with that. As for the food itself, it's no show stopper but...
