Cracker Barrel has really gone down hill over the years. What used to be one of my favorite restaurants is now just a last resort. Tonight was one of those times, it was late and that was the only option and it was about as disappointing as anticipated much in line with most of our limited visits over the last few years. I ordered meatloaf and it came out burnt. The topping which I assume at one point used to be some sort of tomato based product was literally blackened and flaky, the top 1/3 of the piece I received was dried out. I asked if there was a different piece I could have, our server came back and said "they all look like that" so I asked if I could replace it with a ham steak. The server was the great and said absolutely, he came right back to apologize and tell me "she's making me bring it back, I can't let you keep it" (about the meatloaf). That's fine, remember I'm the one that said I didn't want it. That just irked me like whoever "she" was felt like I was tying to get additional food and still eat the burnt up meatloaf like I'm trying to get one over on Cracker Barrel and screw them out of 3 ounces of ground beef. Nobody wanted that dry burnt up meatloaf, please take it. In fact she could have come out and got it herself. I almost expected a manager to come by and at least offer an apology but that never materialized. I just ate my hash brown casserole and waited on the ham. I noticed at the register they no longer ask how everything was....I can only imagine they're probably tired of hearing...
Read moreI have never been so disappointed and felt so discriminated. I went to Cracker Barrel with my boyfriend and his mother. We waited an hour for our food. Other people who came in 10 minutes after us (and had more people in their party than us) got their food, ate and left before we even got cornbread. The waitress went to get the manager after 50mins. When the manager finally came around she didn’t explain why our food wasn’t out yet. She left without apologizing for the inconvenience. She came back after another 10mins explaining that our meal was next in line but didn’t give us a time estimate. We told her that we can’t keep waiting that we will be leaving. She told us our food was basically done and to stay. We have other plans to get to so we explained that we can’t wait any longer. She told us to just wait for our food and take it to go. We waited another 15mins until our food finally came out. As we were leaving my boyfriend’s mother went to the restroom so we waited until she came out. We waited by the door and some of the employees started walking towards us and stood around us as if we were stealing. When we finally arrived home we were going to eat but realized that they didn’t give me any of my food or my drink. My boyfriend’s mother called the store again asking for the manager they put her on hold then hung up on us. We are contacting corporate on Monday. Read moreWe stopped at the Rootstown restaurant on Sat April 12th about 4:30-5p. Our server (Benjamin) was terrible (that's why No star)!! He wouldn't speak up for my husband to hear him or answer any of my husband's questions & all he said was "it's the same size as the picture" regarding the ribs; well that doesn't tell us anything. He wouldn't go & ask someone to give us a real answer; so my husband ordered something else (which he's ordered before many times) & i placed my order. When our food came out what I ordered was completely wrong & my husband's food was cold, dry & to hard to eat (yes even the cornbread). The server was rude when our food was wrong & started to give us an attitude; but he wasn't listening to us & it showed. My husband didn't get anything, but asked for a refill of tea (which he NEVER got) & the server had the manger take his food off; but the manager NEVER came out to speak to us to find out what was wrong. That tells us that the manger does NOT care about keeping customers happy & returning. WE WILL NOT GO BACK!!! We've never not talked to a manager when there's something wrong with our food till this visit. We are wondering if this is how ALL of the other restaurants are now & we should just eat...
