The look of the place is welcoming with a variety of seating options that we considered. However, several high-top tables and a booth we tried had a weird sticky film on them. We eventually found a non sticky table near the windows. But overall, the entire place smells very musty, like a damp basement. The one bright spot was the drink specials. We tried both the pink Starburst and a blueberry lemon refresher. (I may have that name wing. ) The pink Starburst was more sour than i expected, and didn't taste like a Starburst, imo, but was still tasty. The refresher uses a blueberry vodka. We both thought it had excellent flavor. It was light, not too sweet, not too heavy on the lemonade. It tasted more like real blueberries, not like blueberry candy, which was a nice surprise. The drinks tasted good and were a reasonable price.
The food was just ok. We ordered a triple play appetizer with boneless garlic parm wings, southwest spring rolls, and potato skins. The potato skins were good. The "boneless wings" were large chunks of chicken, which i honestly wouldn't have minded at all, just wasn't what we were expecting. The breading was very thin and had no seasoning. Not sure if the garlic parm sauce was dipped or poured over, but it didn't seem to stick to the chicken, and you apart couldn't even tell it has been put on them. On the tray, the suace was buttery and salty, but very little garlic, no other gusto at all. And there wasn't really enough to scrape up and put on more than 1 chucnk of chicken. I was especially looking forward to the southwest egg rolls and again left a bit underwhelmed. Not much filling, no heat, and the rolls themselves were very greasy. For the meal, I ordered the Hoffman House shaved prime rib sandwich with sautéed onions and mushrooms. I added mozzarella and had a side of tots. The hoagie roll was fairly small, and still, the meat only covered about half of the bun. I cut 3 inches of plain bread off the sandwich before eating. The meat and au jus were both low on "beefy" flavor. It was also served with a pickle, which had hot greasy tater tots dumped on it, so it was warm and limp by the time I saw it. The server did return often and ask if we needed anything, but when I asked for boxes or a lid, I had to ask multiple times because she forgot before she came back each time. Overall, if you're just looking for some general bar food, it's probably fine. But I don't feel like the quality of the food was...
Read moreFriendly bartender, helpful servers & fast service. The thing that struck me the most was how quickly I received my appetizer and meal. I thought the Wisconsin Cheese Curds were pretty good. They were soft and fresh, although a little greasy to the fingers. I wasn't given napkins with them. The ranch dipping sauce was tasty. It was a fair size portion for the price and plenty of sauce on the side. I had the Smashburger for my meal. I thought the burger was rather bland, and the fries were just OK. A bit too much bun for my tastes. Overall, it wasn't bad, but I would try something else from the menu if I get back down that way. I didn't notice until writing this that the menu says the burgers come with your choice of a side, but the Smashburger also notes that fries are $1.00 extra. That's a little conflicting. If I hadn't said I wanted fries as my side, would I have just gotten the burger? If I had picked tots or another side, would it have been a dollar less? Hmm, not a huge deal, just confusing a little. The price was fair either way and listed at $6.99, which seems fair for only the burger anyway. The burger meal arrived within a few minutes of the cheese curds appetizer, and I asked for some napkins and a side of mayo . The server was very nice and brought both very quickly. I want to note it was Saturday at 6pm and I sat at the bar. Very fast service considering how busy it was at that time. The bartender, Makayla, was very busy but never seemed overwhelmed. She was attentive but not intrusive during my meal, but she checked on me a couple of times, which was the right amount. The bar was stocked with a great variety of liquors, spirits, and beers on tap or in containers. There were several TVs behind the bar showing various sports going on. They also had gambling machines as well. It was a bit loud with the voices of the diners, but it was kind of expected, noting the day and time. Just wanted to mention it for those who are bothered by that type of atmosphere...
Read moreOur waitress was a very slow and sloppy waitress. She brought our drink order then we didn't see her for 15 minutes. She took our order and we asked for water refills. Our appetizer came out quickly but no water. After a reminder, the water came then my order of a soda. A kitchen runner brought my friend's dinner, a very dried out, over cooked chicken pattyon a bun and fries. My dinner did not follow and no waitress to check. The ketchup on our table was empty, so I ended up going to another table to get a full bottle. We also had no silverware or napkins. 15 minutes after my friend's dinner was served, a different waitress walked by our table and we asked her if she could check on my meal. 10 minutes later our waitress brought my dinner, prime rib sandwich and onion straws, to the table. No apologies, no drink refills. She turned to leave and we had to ask for silverware, napkins, and refills. She made it seem like we were bothering her. Then I noticed the A1 Steak Sauce was empty and I had to table hunt for another bottle. No waitress of course. Still no refills. Asked for a manager and was told Lauren was not in the building. The restaurant was not that busy, the floor filthy, and restroom needed attention....
