Shrimp Shack — Restaurant in Roscommon Township

For anyone not having attended here, think of a roadside bar/food cart setup you might encounter in Puerto Vallarta Mexico. No, not inside the resorts or hotels, in town. It's a small, comfortable little pub with a bartender, and a selection of about 6 beers. I'm assuming all the standard Arrow or DeKuppers liquors are also available for any shots you may require.

Behind the pub is a connecting patio area that has a nice smoking section overlooking the parking lot, and 4 or 5 picnic tables. On the far side is a food trailer set up. That's the shrimp shack. $15 for a half order, $25 for a full order. They've got fries and corn 🌽 too.

We have been up to Houghton the past two summers and this is hands down our favorite place to eat. The food is amazing!!! We love the shrimp and hush puppies. This place is casual and laid back. You order food at the window. If you order water, it is available outside next to where you order. I laughed when someone complained the waitress wouldn’t even bring them their water. This just isn’t that kind of place. Last Sunday there was a waitress that took our drink orders, but last night they didn’t have a drink waitress. No big deal, just go inside the bar and order. Shrimp was overcooked and very chewy. Had a hard time getting the shell off a lot of them. The dipping butter is not what they used to have either, I would easily eat a pound by myself and didn't even come close today 😞 No lobster bisque as the old owners always had it on their menu. Hush puppies were also over cooked and dense. It's been about a year since I came and was so looking forward to this meal and unfortunately it did not deliver.
