The Northern Center — Restaurant in Roscommon Township

This place is just weird, it's like someone put up a big pole barn and then decided to open a restaurant. We went to dinner w some friends and then to a comedy show afterwards. They have an "event space" as well. We were there on prime rib night and my portion was delicious. It came with a generous salad and choice of a side. I chose their "special" potatoes and they were not special. The best I can give them was a meh. So basically I enjoyed a salad and a slab of meat. Our waitress was very friendly but equally confused. It took her 4 tries to get our bills sorted. Bless her heart. For the comedy piece, we had a last minute stand in (pun intended) and at his introduction one would have thought he was Jay Leno. We were promised sore cheeks, more on that in a minute. There was a warm up guy that was completely forgettable and our infamous substitute was, well, to be kind, very disappointing. So we had sore cheeks alright, but on our backsides, not our faces. I think maybe we were not sufficiently lubricated, because the woman next to us, who was generously so, found him HIGHlarious. I went there for their prime rib special. It comes with a sorry excuse for a salad and one side, I chose mashed potatoes. The salad was tiny and skimpy. Lettuce, croutons, and a bit of shredded cheese. No cherry tomato, no onion, no cucumber. Just lettuce. What they call bread is 3 small thin morsels of ciabatta with a saucer of spiced oil. The prime rib was OK. The real problem was the waitress. It was one of those 'hurry up and get out' situations. I was given just a short time to look at the menu, not a real problem because I already knew I wanted the prime rib. I was only halfway through the tiny salad and she brings the prime rib. So I get to finish my salad while the dinner sits there getting cold. Then I'm only 1/3 of the way through the rib and she's bringing me the check. Didn't check to see if the meal was OK, didn't offer drink refills, didn't offer desert or coffee. Just hurry up and get out. I was pretty disgusted with her uncaring and rude attitude. Center Nice not well regulated. Older (young adults) Allowed to cuss swear around little kids. Took over entire court to run full court causing other younger kids to sit out with nothing to do. Wasted money for my daughter. Think the management needs to establish better rules for the center if they expect kids 12 and up to be there with adults who dont have manners or enough self control to control their language around children. My teen kids also said the owners young children were running around exposed to this language as well. F bombs were being dropped left and right. Not very...
