Wok Star Kitchen — Restaurant in Roseland

Ordered from Wok Star for the first time today. The House Special Lo Mein tasted okay, but was large on noodles but woefully shy on protein.

I ordered the General Tso’s Chicken to be medium spicy but there wasn’t a hint of spice. Aside from the spice the dish was just okay. The chicken fried rice was undercooked and crunchy. The chicken Lo Mein got a good review from a family member.

The real telltale sign that Wok Star isn’t even trying is that their “homemade” mustard is actually Gulden’s Spicy Brown mustard in little travel cups. That’s just sad.

After reading the good reviews we decided to give this restaurant a try. Everything ordered was bland. (Not even condiments helped). Fried rice was a pale yellow with white chicken that looked steamed or boiled, so it wasn’t really fried rice. Spare ribs were brown, dry and tasteless. Shrimp egg foo young had a nice consistency but again no flavor and very few shrimp. Wonton soup was salty with inedible wontons. Pork fried rice was bland. I ordered a side order of boneless spare ribs small and a egg roll for my mom the ribs were very good and delicious 😋 perfectly cooked and not greased my mom enjoyed the egg roll. The prices are very good 👍 and cheaper than other Chinese restaurants. The young Asian lady who works there was very nice and sweet. Also the place was very clean and easy to find.
