I gave Ace Creamery a try and was heavily disappointed. Drinks took over 40 minutes to come out (2x the amount of time I was told I would have to wait after placing my order), they were incredibly behind on orders, the staff was unorganized, and items were not prepared the way they should have been. I overheard that people on the hot pot side were also waiting a long time for their drinks when a server came over to inform them.
Either they’re understaffed or their process hasn’t been developed well enough yet. But if they’re running a business that offers drinks to the hot pot side as well, they should have more than one person making drinks. The only woman making drinks was running around trying to find the powder for one of them. Staff had to spend extra time putting stickers on cups, and I witnessed the woman in charge brush off one of the staff’s concerns and ignore her when a situation came up.
I do not recommend the Hokkaido Milk Tea. It tastes like straight-up powder and water, not blended at all, and honestly, it doesn’t resemble milk tea. I took it home and tried saving it by adding black tea, but to no avail, I ended up tossing it. The fresh mango smoothie also had no flavor.
Maybe I just came on a day when they were having issues, low on inventory, and understaffed. However, after observing how the business is run, trying their drinks, and encountering more issues I didn’t even include in this review, I do not...
Read moreThis place is good. The food is incredible. The way they do it is you pick your "style" of soup and they bring it out to you and place it on a little box with fire in it to keep the soup heated. As you are eating, they come around when they see your broth getting low and fill your bowl up again with hot fresh broth. You will never leave here hungry. But don't think this is all about alot of broth and skimping on the substance. We went here and got the Taiwanese and the Szechwan. Fantastic. The meat portions were HUGE. Way more than I would ever expect. And the flavors were really good.
My only complaint was the incense smell. Maybe they have a shrine somewhere but the incense was overpowering. It even affected the taste of the food.
I can't imagine they are always doing this, but it happened when we went last time.
If this place was in San Francisco, there would be lines out the door with a 45 minute wait. But this is Roseville. Home to our several world class restaurants that no one hears about :)
If they could guarantee they would never fill up their indoors with incense smoke again, I would rate this place a 5 star all day. It would then be perfect for a date night, a family night, or just some really great...
Read moreOrdered 2 hotpots and a popcorn chicken to-go. Quality was terrible. I’ve had Tasty Pot in Boston before and the experience was decent, so when I saw Tasty Pot opened in Roseville I had to give it a try. First of all, the popcorn chicken was seasoned with a weird herb that is not the standard popcorn chicken you would expect. This item was a 2/5, it was just weird but still edible. The hotpots on the other hand were purely low in quality. First hotpot we ordered was the Taiwanese Spicy Pot. We are Taiwanese and can firmly confirm that this pot isn’t. It included ingredients which aren’t supposed to be in a Taiwanese hotpot - the result? Abomination, the flavor was bad and all you can taste was just chili pepper. The second hotpot we ordered was Kimchi, again, weird flavors and poor taste. Food was definitely not authentic, but I am ok with non-authentic (I enjoy Panda Express too). But the problem was that they tasted awful. I really want this place to be great because it’s hard to find good Asian food around here but my advise is to look elsewhere if you have an above average...
