Trigger warning..long winded post follows lol.
This little restaurant was awesome. I got a special that had two meats three eggs..no yolk and hash browns with onions. And a shortstack.
First of all there was a large portion of hashbrowns. I expected smaller but am not complaining. They were delish.
The sausage was two links and dang near as big around as a quarter. I'm used to smokey links flavor so even tho they were ok I will opt in the future for my two meats being composed of bacon. This had a normal sausage flavor and not peppery. That pleased me. I don't like my sausage spicy. Others can always add.
The bacon was thick and done just the way I like it. Not too limp and not too crunchy. Great flavor.
Now to the pancakes. Many places have nice small, saucer sized pancakes. This I expected. JUST WHOA!!!!
They were huge! And slightly cinnamon flavored! Just wonderful but I could not finish half of it! Had to take home! Very pleased when I can take part of something home to add to and enjoy the next day!
The waitress was great! Place was clean and cozy! Will be returning. They have been open since 1981 and we live just outside of Augusta in the outskirts of Battle Creek. It takes all of about 10 minutes to get there...yet it was my first time there.
My biggest question...why in the heck did I wait so long? Don't wait...just go. This meal was just over 10 bucks and worth every penny.
This is a pic if my 81 year old father Jack N enjoying his meal. We lived in the Gull Lake area since I was 5 and he worked at Brook Lodge. So Augusta feels like home and this us a home style restaurant for sure. You can imagine the size if the pancakes just from what he has left. This was Sunday the 14th of April 2019 and we had a tabke for two that she moved tge chair to accomodate his wheelchair. He said he's already ready to return!
If you go...bon appetite! (you're...
Read morei was reluctant to give it 3 starts, then thought about 2, then was like, no, it wasn't good, be honest. we went for lunch. by the looks of the menu you automatically assume what could be bad, it's all yummy stuff, even though it's really not. we ordered the dig in burger and club sandwich. both were ridiculously dry. and it took forever just to make it. and it wasn't busy. we heard the cook say "order up" 3 times. waitress was coming to us, then turned around and went back to kitchen and said "this is suppose tobe a dig in burger". a few seconds later they were able to correct it, that quickly ?? i'm thinking they just slapped on another burger patty. i mean really how could you correct it that fast ? our fries were cold. the bread on the club was suppose to be toasted... which it looked like it was, but the bread was soft, not toast. very weird. and i love club sandwiches, how could you go wrong, really ? i can't even think about it or it makes me nauseated. the burger patty was dry. we've been here for breakfast, a long time ago. i seem to remember it wasn't bad. but we thought we'd try it for lunch. uhm, no. it's too bad because it's a cute little out of the way place that just screams "best small town diner". it's not that...
Read moreThis is definitely a good place to stop for a bite. My family and I stopped in here. It's got that great local diner vibe that you find in many small towns across the United States. The food was superb. While I didn't try every one of my families food, it all looked tasty. I had their double cheeseburger. It was huge. Despite what people may tell you, I don't have a big mouth, and this burger was a challenge. It was large, messy and delicious! If you're not willing to get a little messy while eating, you're not truly enjoying life. I had the table next to us rooting for me to finish that thing, but I ended up taking half of it home. Even I have my limits on how much I can consume. The beer battered fries were a treat and the coleslaw was fantastic. The bottom line is you get lots of delicious food for the small-town diner price. Ya can't beat it. Plus, the staff is very friendly and make you feel...
