when i tried to make reservations for 4 on New Year's eve, I was told that they only take reservations for parties of 10 or more. Based on that info, when I scheduled my husband's birthday dinner for Jan. 11, I called two days in advance, but I was told that they don't take reservations, even for large parties on Fridays and Saturdays - but to use the NoWait app instead. I've used it many times before for other restaurants, so anticipated no problems. WELLLL - when I attemped to use the app, I found that it's now part of Yelp, and that Monticellos wouldn't accept it for parties over 7. It specifically said to CALL the restaurant for that large a party. By then, it was getting much closer to our family members to meet there at 6. I called, got a recording. Called a few minutes later and was told we'd have an hour wait. I was also told that i should have used the NoWait app, and that what i needed to do was click on the number 7, and then add in the notes page that we were a party of 10. when I was told during my phone call 2 days in advance to use the NoWait app, that process (using the number 7) should have been explained to me. restaurant personnel should now be familiar with the change and instead of telling customers to use NoWait, telling them to use Yelp would have saved me at least a few minutes in my frustrating series of contacts. We could not, with 4 kids, wait for an hour - we went across the street to Silvionis and had a delicious dinner, served perfectly. It's now our favorite Italian restaurant in the...
Β Β Β Read moreYikes, the place was absolutely packed on a Thursday for lunch service, literally we got the 2nd to last parking spot. We were there for a family gathering and had one of the rooms reserved. I had heard good things and with the place being packed with roughly 100-150 people on a Thursday I expected some of the best Italian food. We were eating a buffet and not alacarte so maybe that would make a difference? We had a salad, bread, some sort of pasta salad, roast beef, mashed potatoes, chicken parm and Raviolis. The pasta salad was ok, the beef had a weird texture and the mashed potatoes were like glue, possibly straight up instant or a mix of something else but also had an off putting garlic taste to them. The chicken parm was ok but was served very dry with little to no red sauce and last but not least was the Raviolis. They were ok and at least had enough red sauce to work with. I'll go as far as saying this was all food service food with nothing made in house (at least it tasted that way) The place was nice and the service was great. We didn't pay for the meal so can't advise on value for your money. Just really disappointed with the...
Β Β Β Read moreWe love Italian food, especially great pizza, pasta and hoagies. This place has all these and more. We used to go when they were located on McKnight road and now go to this location when they moved.
The service is outstanding, hostess was friendly and sat us down quick. Our waitress Amber was attentive and patient, as one meber of our party had a gluten and dairy allergy.
The wuality and value of the food is outstanding the owners have kept the prices reasonable when so many other places have jacked their prices way high.
The dood here is always good and we never leave hungry. Our favorite is the seafood pizza. We also have had the hoagie and pasta dishes with garlic bread. They can handle any size party and have 2 banquet areas for parties.
We even order pizza for the football game and their take-out desk is right next to the hostess station. This place is a Pittsburgh tradition and always has consistent, tasty, good on your wallet Italian food.
They have added more new items to their evolving menu and all for the better. Great staff, Customer Service, value for money and overall...
