My husband and I recently had dinner here, we had heard good things about the food, so we decided to try it out. It was a Friday night around 5:30pm. It was busy but there were tables open both inside the restaurant and outside on the patio, there was a sign that said seat yourself so we did. We decided to sit outside because the weather was nice, and it was less crowded. As you walk out the door there are signs everywhere asking if you told the bartender that you were sitting outside. We found a table and went back inside to let someone know where we were. The patio was basically empty; there was one table waiting for their food and one couple still hadnât seen a server. Three other tables were sat shortly after us. About 20 minutes had passed and some of the tables were getting restless, no one had been out. The gentleman from the other table went back in to make sure someone was aware that there were people out on the patio, that table was there 30 minutes before us and still no one had come out. A male server rushed out a few minutes later and said if the other female server wasnât going to take the tables he would. He then disappeared for about another 10-15 minutes. When he finally came back outside, he basically scolded the tables asking them if they let the bartender know they were out on the patio. We all had told someone. He then took all four tables drink orders, he returned with the drinks, and we were all ready to order. We placed our order about 40 minutes into our dining experience; mozzarella wedges, grilled salmon with a side of broccoli and a side salad, and a steak hoagie. The food runner brought out the appetizer; it had no flavor and was like eating cardboard. The food runner also brough out my salad which was fine. We saw our waiter two times while we were waiting for our food, both times he told my husband he would get him a drink refill and never did. I then went into the bar and asked the bartender for a soda refill and to speak with a manager, she stated there wasnât one working that night. About 5 minutes later the male server brought out the refill for my husband and I could tell he noticed the glass with the soda in it. I politely said, âoh I had to go to the bar to get him a refillâ. To which the server snapped back with âwell maybe you didnât notice how busy it is in thereâ. I again replied, âWell he asked twice for a refillâ. Just then the food runner brought out our food and the male server could be heard loudly saying something to the effect of, âoh good they are over there I canât deal with themâ. Our food was ok, salmon was bland, broccoli was overcooked and mushy, steak hoagie was good while it was hot but wasnât that great when it cooled off. The male server finally returned after we were done eating and we asked for the check. When he came back out, he said he couldnât do much, but he did take off my beer and my husbandâs soda from the bill. I thought that was nice of him. We gave him our card and when he returned, he made the snarky comment that they were hiring. Our total dining experience took almost 2 hours. The service was terrible, and the food was just ok. If you are understaffed and busy, put yourself on a wait. I would rather wait 30 minutes for a table and have a good dining experience. Communication is key. Had our server said, hey itâs very busy and we a short people tonight, please just bear with us, I might have been more understanding. I didnât get an attitude with you so please donât get one with me. How can there not be a manager or anyone in charge present in the restaurant on a...
Read moreFirst time I have visited this restaurant/tavern. Service was outstanding!!!!!! Our server, RaeAnne, took very good care of our party, and we were there for 3 + hours. Nachos appetizers were good, not necessarily the best that I have ever had, but pretty good!!!!!!! Beverages could have been checked on to be refilled a little more often, but this is a minor issue. My Hoagie was well stocked with good ingredients, but the bun appeared not to be toasted, as I had requested. The dressing used on the hoagie was tasteless and bland and thus very disappointing đ đ đ. It was DEFINITELY NOT the best hoagie or tavern sandwich that I have ever had, I have had better, and I am not even referencing other hoagie shops, the old "Grotto" down in beautiful downtown West View had a better hoagie when it was open and Uncle Keith was the cook down there. There are several others in the tavern businesses in the North Hills and on Camp Horne that do a better job. In fact, the hoagie was bland. Oh well, everyone deserves a SECOND CHANCE, sooooo, I will try something else when I visit the next time. Time to up your game on this sandwich đ„Ș Rochester Inn!!!!! See you then the next time, but again, the service was awesome. Maybe the next time I review the Rochester Inn, I can recommend a particular...
Read moreFor great beer, great food and a clean and healthy bar room atmosphere, this one is gold standard. Presenting with a somewhat military air, this is a minimalist decor, easy to navigate bar and grill. Low on frills, but high on function. Top notch. A note on burgers: if you say rare, rare you will get. So tell them exactly how you like it done. Brief but exact description of expectation is key, they will listen to what you say. A word on the beer: There's a wide variety and lots of fun to be had in the trying, but be aware of the pricing, some of it is not cheap. I have never had a more expensive beer then the Big Bad Baptist Black Forest Cake Stout. I have also never had a better beer. I want you to hear this because I've had great beer over all of the greater Pittsburgh area--Pittsburgh, the drinking town with a football problem, the American city that never stops having Oktoberfest--for my entire life. And I have NEVER had a better beer. It's $14 a glass. Yes. That's a lot. I'll save the waitress some breath and give you the heads up, it's $$, some of this stuff. But it's worth it. I'd take one of those stouts over 3 erie railbenders (also good, also available). Mileage will vary, but that's my two cents. I look forward to...
