Great Wall Express — Restaurant in Round Rock

Good food terrible service. First off went through the drive through order my food. Ordered "vegetable" lo mein with specific vegetables, two extra egg rolls and a side of hot pepper oil. I got my food then went back around through the drive to order an additional meal. Rung the bell, waited and waited, then the manager had the nerve to come look out the window to see I was back again and walked off. I rung the bell again and she decided to open the window this time. When she realized I was placing another order she made the statement "Oh I thought something was wrong!" When I get home I noticed my vegetable lo mein had not one, not two put three different types of meat. I called the restaurant to let them know about my order and asked to speak with the manager. The young lady who answered the phone said the manager was busy and would call me back. I waited until almost closing time for the manager to call back before making another call to the restaurant. This time when I called the manager acted like she forgot to call me back because she was so busy since she had lack of staff and that she was having to wait tables. She apologized for my order being wrong and went on to say that if she knew earlier she would have had someone deliver it since it was their mistake. Well of course it was about closing time and so a little too late for that. She then asked what I would like for her to do. I said can you just refund me? She said she couldn't because it would mess up her drawer for the night. Ok fine, so I agreed to her replacing my meal. So here we are now a week later. I called and spoke with the manager to get my order replaced. The manager was now fine with replacing the lo mein but had the nerve to tell me she would have to charge me for the egg rolls because I did get those. Seriously??? Obviously I had ordered egg rolls to go along with my meal that I did not get to eat! I told her if she was going to charge me for two egg rolls when I have to make a special 15min trip to get my order fixed then forget it. She just laughed...When I get to the drive through the manager handed me my food and I asked her if I could get some hot chili oil? She had the nerve to say do you have $.50. WHAT!!! She said didn't you get that in your bag last time? Im sorry I didnt known I was suppose to save the oil for my next meal? I got that oil to go with my meal. I showed her the total on my receipt and she went on and gave me some oil. I asked her so is the egg roll that comes with the meal in my bag? She said no because you got all three egg rolls last time. I told her that would be the last time we ever come to this restaurant. She shrubbed her shoulders and nodded her head and said ok. This was the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant! So sad that is how the manager treats...

Look I've been in the restaurant/fast food business and the owner of this place is a lie. I've watched my own managers go out of their way and stopped their entire day no matter how busy we are to tend a customers need and complaint andthats not what I witnessed today. No matter how nice she may seem she has the poorest customer sevice skills I've ever seen. I've order from here PLENTY of times. For 10 years we've ordered and never had a problem. It only takes 1 mistake to ruin your reputation with someone and thats what I've experienced. They got half our order wrong and when we called for a refund she didnt even give us half like we asked she gave us 1/4 of our money back. Her excuse? "Im just so busy I dont have time to give you the whole refund and figure this out." EVEN AFTER HER CASHIER ADMITTED SHE TOOK THE WRONG ORDER SHE STILL WOULD NOT CREDIT US. The credit we got wasnt for having the wrong meal. It was for the other minor inconvenience of a BUG we found lying in the middle of the food. Now you tell me, would you EVER go back to a place that has an owner with a bad attitude and only give the smallest refund you can because they ADMITTED there was a bug in the dish? We stopped in this Saturday a bit after they opened. I was tired of fast food Chinese and wanted to take my girls for a sit down. I'd never stuck my head in here, so was surprised it has a nice atmosphere.

We were quickly welcomed to choose a table and someone was there quickly to take our drink order and hand us menus.

The gentleman there was able to explain the menu options and helped us order what we wanted and felt we were hungry for.

We ate the fried dumplings as an app and they are HUGE, juicy and filling. My youngest ordered chow mein noodles and beef with broccoli. The noodles here are flavorful and tasty and the entree was wonderful with juices and Gravy. My oldest daughter and I had orange beef and it was perfect. This is one of my childhood favorites and I haven't had it in years, so this plate took me back. I also had the brown rice, cooked well without being too sticky or dry.
