I have been looking for a reliable taco/burrito place for weeks. I gave 1 star reviews to 4 different places that advertise (on Google and/or their website) their hours but are not open when they say they will be open. That's not the end of the world, but it is a huge pain in the neck when you drive to a place only to find they are not open when they said they will be open.
Anyway, Torta is in the Shell station at the corner of Rowlett Rd and Miller Rd. I stopped there around 7:30 am today (sign says they open at 7am) and ordered an egg and chorizo burrito. I saw fresh tamales so also bought a dozen pork tamales. I have to say I was very impressed with the breakfast burrito - it was made fresh while I waited, full of egg and chorizo and the tamale was lightly grilled. Perfect!!! Their tamales are packed full of real pulled pork and the masa is not too thick. Prices are reasonable and everything was fresh and hot. Several times ordering I’ve asked for them to put a sheet of foil or paper between my food and the plate which they ignore.
