National Coney Island - Royal Oak — Restaurant in Royal Oak

Awful service pathetic rude the restaurant was very busy my sister and brother-in-law got there 10 minutes prior to me they had their place settings or drinks it took 15 minutes for the server to come to me I ordered a drink and took another 15 minutes of iced tea I ordered lemon rice soup she brought chili I said I ordered lemon rice soup she said oh I wrote chili I don't care what you wrote down I ordered lemon rice she brings it back with attitude I never got a place setting no silverware to eat my two Coney dogs with for 15 minutes I waited finally I got up and went after asking her three times for silverware I wouldn't ask for the manager she then brings the silverware she said I've been very busy and I said I don't care how busy you are as soon as I sat down within a minute or two you should have seen I was a third person at the table and brought the silverware she did not like that the manager finally comes out he says we were talking very down to his server he does not appreciate that he was going to Compass our meal but now he's not that we can't be talking like that they're very very busy and very understaffed I said sir the reason we're here is because you have a job we expect good customer service I should not have to ask 3 times for fork and knife to eat my Coney dogs I ask for a manager or district manager management above him card he finally brought it back was very apologetic said were very busy I'm sorry I'll talk to her she came back very nice. He did comp my meal and gave a free dessert to my sister but just bad service there tonight the coneys...

I've made my last visit to this place as of today 8-4-2019. How this restaurant has 4.1 stars is beyond me! Our visits here are mostly for breakfast, some dinners but not too often. It's hit or miss when you dine here, most of the time it's a miss depending on the server you get, some servers care about what their customers order, how they want it cooked, and will make sure the meal comes to you as close as how you ordered it as they can. When your order comes to you with some items burnt, other items under cooked, side items that doesn't come along with the meal you ordered, and when the side items doesn't come as ordered, and the server not caring enough to look at the food before she brings it to you , plus makes you wait while she carries her slow behind around to do other things that isn't that important before her customers are taken care of properly. This restaurant hasn't been cleaned In quite awhile, when you leave your clothes smell like the kitchen your food came from tells me the ventilation here is very poor to say the least! MANAGEMENT, PLEASE TAKE A FEW MINUTES AND LOOK AROUND YOUR RESTAURANT, IT"S PRETTY OBVIOUS YOUR MANAGEMENT SKILLS NEEDS SOME WORK,, ALONG WITH THE QUALITY OF THE FOOD YOU SERVE. IT"S TIME FOR A STAFF MEETING. It's a shame there's not many National Coney Islands left to go to, hopefully this one can make some sort of...

Tonight I came in with my husband at 1am. There were 4 servers, 3 people at the counter and we were the 5th table to walk in. Our server greeted us promptly with napkins and silverware. She took our drink order and promptly returned with our waters and took our food order. We ordered a gyro, bowl of soup, grilled chicken hani and a shake. It took 30 minutes for the gyro, soup and hani and almost 40 minutes for the shake.

My husband specifically asked to have his soup brought out first, yet it was served with his meal. And my drink was served after I was already done with my meal.

I could understand if the restaurant was slightly busy or if they were short staffed or something. But there was no excuse for such slow and poor service.

And as someone who has been coming to National for 20 years, every time I have ordered a shake they bring the metal mixing cup to the table, not today. And she tried to say that the first shake was too thin and had to be remade. The restaurant was dead silent, I could hear when the shake was finally started, after I had finished my sandwich.

Overall she was nice and the place was clean, so I gave it 2 stars, but it shouldn't have taken that long for the meal to be ready and the soup and drink should have been...
