Aside From The Inconsistency of Days They're Open & If They Actually Have What Is Listed In Their Menu To Order On Any Given Day... The Food Itself Is Really Good & Cooked Well & There's PLENTY OF IT In Every Order That You Are Able To Select (Granted They Aren't Out Of What You're Trying To Order) The Staff Has Always Been Friendly When Placing &/OR Picking Up An Order & They Try To Be Understanding & Courteous If The Callers Disappointment When They Have To Inform Them That They Are Out Of Anything Requested From Their Menu And Try Their Best To Give An Update Of When They Will Have That/Those Items Back In Stock Incase The Caller Is Dissatisfied In Selecting Something Else From The Menu. Reggie Long Is The Owner & He's Usually Pretty Customer Courteous & Willing To Take Attention To Any Customer Feedback &/OR Suggestions (Within Reason) & He's Usually Very In Tune With What Is Offered & Not Available & Can Answer Best As To Why That Item Is Not Available Or Why They've Been "Running OutOf The Item" More Frequently. It Is A Small Town Business & As Such, It Is Prone To These Kinds Of Draw Backs In Menu ItemAvailability. But, Given A Chance & Being Understanding & Friendly Goes A Long Way, In Both Directions! (By Customers As Well As Establishment) With The Understanding , Feedback , Appreciation, & Respect Between Establishment & Customers... The Smokin' Joe's experience begins the minute you get out of your car. The aroma of smoky goodness curls around you and your feet will go through the door before your brain can decide if you want ribs or steak. I chose the rib eye dinner and it was one of the best steaks I've had as I've traveled across the country. It comes medium rare and I strongly recommend going with it: it is so tender that a plastic knife cut through it like butter. The pork brisket was equally tender and sumptuous. The sides were pretty darn good and the baked beans are far better than most restaurants. (Okay, I'm picky and prefer my own, but these were pretty close!) A rack of ribs came home for another meal and they were out of this world delicious. Every smoked meat is unseasoned and you decide how much salt & pepper you want at the table. This used to be good. So sad, don't know what happened here. Ordered 1# chopped brisket and chicken basket to go. $41.00, which, okay you get a lot for the money. But still, you expect a certain level of quality for the price. The "chopped" brisket consisted of big chunks of fatty greasy beef. It was not chopped like what I've got from them in the past. Couldn't even put it on a bun. The chicken was just okay. To add to this I was in the restaurant a solid 5+ minutes before I could get anyone's attention. No other customers present, just me. The cashier was watching something on her phone with ear buds, and I could hear someone moving around in the kitchen. I get it, slow day and all, but a little concerning I couldn't get anyone's attention for several minutes. Good thing I wasn't robbing the place.
