We were in our way home from DeKalb and wanted to get some good Chinese food. Google reviews were good so we stopped. We wanted to eat inside because we were still a ways from home, and at first glance, this place is pretty bland. Just a few simple tables and no decor However... It is all about the food! Egg rolls were good but small, and the hot & sour soup was delicious. Spicy, flavorful, lots of tofu & veggies. Literally the best egg foo young we have ever had. And I mean that. We eat a lot of Chinese food and have tried it in many cities and towns. This was perfect. Big patties, lots of veggies and very flavorful. And the gravy was yummy and the perfect consistency. Seems simple but our local place makes it like library paste and we have had some that is watery and bland. This version was thick but not gloppy, and even after the leftovers sat in the fridge overnight, this did not turn into a solid glob. We also tried the hunan beef. Beef was plentiful, and tender, good variety of veggies and they were crisp and delicious. And the sauce was spicy and flavorful - the way it should be! If we lived closer, i'd order from there once a week or more! 2 sisters were working the front, so we figured it was a family business. They know what they are doing and I hope they stick around so we can go...
Read moreI order often from China Wok. Most of the time they are fantastic. Every now and than maybe a new employee comes along or someone is trying to manage with little help.
However the other week when I went in I had ordered my order to the other location. Not only was I met with grace from this location as I told them my mistake. But they remade my order and added in a few extra things. As they noticed I was off. Like mentioned we order often.
I was so touched by this experience as I had a meltdown from life events inside my favorite Chinese food place. Of all places you think you would. You just couldn't get yourself together. Yet someone that just knows you like... fill in the blank of the thing you order. Saw you were hurting and met you with kindnesses, grace, and love. She even brought my food out to my car for me and gave me a little side hug and said it was going to be oh k. A few weeks later still healing, but it is oh k. As far as customer service. I would pay extra just to know someone cares, and they do here. I can testify to that. ❤️ Some people say people can heal you with a meal. Maybe not physical but definitely mentally that was healing...
Read moreFirst time customer and with that said, best in the local area but they can improve. Hot, tasty food, good service. The kids loved the sweet and sour chicken although one commented the sauce was thinner and lacked some flavor (some people may prefer this). We had the combination platter-Moo Goo Gai pan that included pork fried rice and egg roll both flavorful and could easily be 2 meals, very tasty. My combination platter-Sesame chicken appeared dry, unfortunately, as the sauce was dry and there was no extra sauce to mix in, large portion though and egg roll was fresh and tasty. The crab Rangoon was also fresh and crispy, very good. The kids veggie egg rolls has a light, flaky, crispy shell that was very good. They didn’t provide standard packets for soy sauce and only 2 duck sauce packets so that can be improved, or maybe you have to ask for extra. For the price paid, we felt we received a good value and overall hot, tasty food with the exception of the sesame chicken. We’ll try again and giving 5 stars because 90% of our food was hot, a very good value and service was friendly by the young people at...
