I don't know where to start... I guess first off, some of the pictures are halfway way through our meal. The food was so good!! 😋😋 It was hot, fresh, and delicious. Saturday evening: Mom had the chicken fried steak and a baked potato. I had a taste of her chicken friend steak. I have to say that was absolutely the BEST chicken fried steak I have ever tasted. Hubby and I both had burgers. The patties are from beef raised on the owners ranch. Hubby had the patty melt with onion rings. I had the bacon cheeseburger and sweet potato fries. The burgers were seasoned well and had a wonderful flavor. They were juice and cooked to perfection. The onion rings hubby had were from made scratch - hand cut, and batter lightly. They were bursting with flavor and deep friend to a perfect golden brown. I had sweet potato fries, and wow, these are the most tasty sweet potato fries I have had. They were hand-cut - not too thick or thin, just right. Now, on the decedent pies and oh my, they did not disappoint. Mom had a peach pie she said it was very good (I didn't taste it, so I cannot elaborateon it.) Hubby had the fudge pecan pie, and oooohh it was amazing (I did have a bite a this one, it's chocolate 🤪) The crust was delicate, but not falling apart. The filling was moist and was not overly sweet but sweet enough. I had the lemon meringue pie (my favorite), and it was the best damn pie I have ever had. 😋 The crust was like hubbies, and the filling had the ideal amount of tart and sweet. It was refreshingly delicious. All I can say is you have to try it!!! Monday breakfast: Hubby had the western omelet, with tator tots, and a biscut with gravy. He said his omelet was pretty good. The tator tots were good and crispy. I had the two eggs, ham, cubed potatoes, and a biscuit with sausage gravy. My eggs were cooked just like I like them 😋. The potatoes were fresh and crisp. The ham was very good. The biscut with the sausage gravy was just like my step-mom used to make - soooo good!! The restaurant was clean and has plenty of seating. There is street parking. The only reason this establishment got 4 stars is because of the service. Saturday, the service was horrible. We could get the waitresses' attention to get refills, a box, or the check. She didn't check on us once. I have to say Monday the service was better. I assume it was better because the owner was there. I would definitely go back because the food was outstanding 👌 I highly recommend this place if you can stand the subpar service.

Review: Lost Maples Café – Utopia, Texas By Hazel Velasquez Tucked away in the quiet charm of Utopia, Texas, Lost Maples Café offers more than just a meal — it offers a feeling. From the moment I stepped in, I was struck by the unpretentious warmth of the space. The atmosphere is unmistakably homey, with a lived-in authenticity that can’t be faked. The menu leans into classic country comfort, but what sets this spot apart is execution. The homemade biscuits were, without exaggeration, phenomenal — golden, flaky, and served with the kind of pride that only comes from baking them from scratch that very morning. As someone who often finds myself repeating the phrase “extra veggies, please” only to be met with a sprinkle of green, I was genuinely impressed. I requested a fully loaded veggie omelet — and for once, didn’t have to beg, repeat, or clarify. It arrived overflowing with fresh, vibrant produce, balanced and flavorful in every bite. That level of attentiveness is rare. Lost Maples Café doesn’t try to be trendy or reinvent the wheel. What it does, it does exceptionally well. It’s a humble reminder that great food, served with care, still matters — and in this little corner of Texas, it shines.

Don't order the ribeye, even medium rare. Don't be fooled by the fact it is from a local farm. The hockey puck that arrived at my table, already cut as though it had been cooked into the afterlife in two pieces, presented an interesting quandary of which was worse, how overcooked or how oversalted it was. I scraped off the ample visible quantity of steak seasoning and was able to hack and cough my way through a few bites before I had to confine the grey mass to the dog, who I will be checking for hypertension and early death throughout the night. To be fair to the cook, I'm not sure you can cook a 1/3" steak to medium rare, but it would be nice to have known that when I ordered it. So much for a $25 steak.

My wife knew what to get and I should have followed her lead. The lamb chops were the same price and had about twice as much meat, and were in fact cooked properly to medium rare and seasoned I think properly. They were actually good. The onion rings I got were also good and they provided a lot of cheese and sour cream for my wife's baked potato, which I pilfered to take home and have on a hot dog instead of my steak. If a hot dog with cheese and sour cream sounds disgusting maybe you have a frame of reference for how bad this steak was.

No one showed up to ask how our food was or if we needed anything after the food came, and I had to go to the counter to get checked out. I know we are in a small city and this is the only game in town, but this steak was an outright crime. I cannot ever recall receiving a worse steak, and with a "ribeye" you really have to work to get to this bad.

The atmosphere was nice, homey. I'm sure if I ordered something else like the chicken friend steak I would have had a good time, the ribeye on the menu was just too...

Food was OK service was lacking. Took the family after a day of hiking at Lost Maples. After We ordered our waitress gave us a lecture on the proper way to order a cheeseburger. Some of us ordered a hamburger with cheese instead of a "cheeseburger". Not sure why she felt the need to say anything. I don't need some kid talking to my family like we are schoolchildren and don't know how to order food. This was off putting. Interestingly enough, the menu does not have a "cheeseburger" on it. They have a hamburger and any additions you want, like cheese or bacon ect.... So they ordered exactly how the menu was written. She would have been better off just putting the order in, and not saying anything. It came across as condescending. That is how it started and it went downhill after. Food came quickly at least some of it. We had 7 orders, 2 were wrong (1 missing an item and one incorrect )and a third order just never showed up. Our waitress did not notice that not everyone had food. I let here know and by the time it finally arrived everyone else was done. As, far as taste, the burgers, rings, patty melt and chicken fried steaks were good. Fries were barely warm. The hamburger steak was over salted, overcooked and dry. The club sandwich was average at best. As a side note it was not busy so the servers and kitchen should not have had these types of issues. They did comp a couple of pieces of pie to try and smooth things over, but overall I was...
