Came here after 1 pm because my children 6 & 8 y/o loves the BBQ duck in which it's the signature dish of this restaurant. It took about 3 minutes to be seated. We already knew what we wanted to order before sitting which was 2 entree rice dish (BBQ duck & crispy pork). We've been here multiple times before because of the food. Once we sat down, the waitress rushed off. The restaurant was about 80% full with 2 empty tables. After 10 minutes of sitting, I waved at 1 of 3 waitresses who acknowledged but basically gave the "give me a minute signal". A couple was then seated at the window corner. Keep in mind, neither my kids nor I received even water after 15 minutes of waiting. My daughter kept saying, "are they coming to take our order?" "Do you want me to grab a waitress?". Another 5 minutes passed and the couple received their specialty drinks. I hailed down the waitress who had delivered the drinks and told her that I was ready to order, but she took off basically signalling not now. I would have left, but my daughter begged me to stay because she really wanted the BBQ duck. We sat for another 10 minutes while my kids were complaining about how thirsty & hungry they were. Then the couple in the corner received their lunch plates. The waitress then went to the other window table where an older couple was, to ask if they needed anything. That family was nice enough to tell the waitress that we were waiting for a long time and needed to be served. Finally the waitress came to us (30 minutes since being sat down), asked our order. I asked why was the couple who sat down after us was served their drinks and meal, yet our order wasn't even taken. She apologized and said that she forgot about us. I ordered the BBQ duck and to our dismay, she said they just ran out and it would take another 20 minutes. So basically, the people before us got our duck. I just had it! I have 2 kids, both telling me nonstop how hungry and thirsty they are and I have to wait another 20 minutes for the duck? I got up, grabbed my crying kids in toll to the nearest fast food restaurant (Burger King) and fed them within 5 minutes. I've been here like 8 times and the food here is great, but the service is terrible. This time it was the worst. All the times I've been there, you have to bring the bill up and pay it or it's like a 15 minute wait after you're done. The waitresses are not really organized, almost like who can take whatever customer and no assigned area/tables or at least they don't seem to show who's in charge of what. I've never been so disappointed in a restaurant as this place. It hits harder when a place makes your kids cry. It's like going to Disneyland, waiting all day in line to meet the princess, just to be told, come back tomorrow. To kids, each passing minute is like 10 minutes to an adult. Service has...
Read moreStopped by this place because another foodie told us we can’t miss their duck noodle soup so we HAD to try it. I would’ve never expected a full dine in restaurant at a boba shop but there it was. Sometimes when people tell you something tastes great, you set your expectation high and the actual food can be disappointing because it’s not as good as it’s hyped to be and how you’ve elevated it in your mind. Well, I have to say that it did not disappoint! We were seated promptly but for some reason, they helped another table who arrived after us for some reason. Not a big deal though since there weren’t many people and it was a leisurely weekend for us.
We ordered the shredded roast duck noodles soup. The broth was very flavorful but light with its clear broth. They used the vermicelli bean thread noodles and so my husband just thought the texture was off. I ordered the Roasted Duck Confit with Large noodles and mustard greens. The duck came out in a separate dish than the soup. The broth was light and tasted heavenly. I added some chili oil available at the table and the slight kick added another dimension to this delicious dish. What was utterly amazing about the dish was the duck. The skin was nice and crispy and even though I dunked the duck into the broth, I could tell it had been marinated because the flavor was infused deep into the meat, so much so that I could still taste the flavors after the dunking. I don’t think I’ve had duck this good before.
We also ordered the Hainanese chicken and beef chow fun. Both were good and standard fare that would satisfy any cravings, if you had an inkling for it. The pork ears were also pretty good too but it does have a brief numbing sensation to the tongue even though we ordered it as mild, I’m assuming from Sichuan peppercorns? But what a gem of a place that is almost down the street from us! We’ll be back for that roasted duck!! 🤤
The service was good but not excellent. We had to ask for our drinks but it never came out, even after the food started coming out. We asked and it came out shortly after that; the waitress was apologetic for forgetting. I deducted one star because no one came back to check to see if we needed refills or if we needed anything else after the food was served. But if you caught their attention, they’d get whatever you wanted promptly. Overall, the service was still pretty good all things considered. The waitress was was waiting the tables in the dining area and also helping people who came in...
Read moreI recently had a pre-order experience at Tealicious for Chinese BBQ items during the Chinese New Year weekend, and unfortunately, it left a lot to be desired. We arrived to pick up our order, and to our disappointment, only 2 out of the 3 items were ready. The staff informed us that the third item would take an additional hour. Reluctantly, we left to go shopping and returned as instructed.
Upon our return, we were informed that our originally ordered roast duck had been given to another customer. This was a major letdown, and the staff's solution was to make more but with an additional wait time of another hour. Frustrated, we opted not to wait and proceeded to pay for the Honey BBQ Pork and Chicken, which were the only items available at that moment.
To make matters worse, we overheard another customer experiencing the same issue – they had given away her prepaid roast duck as well. It was disheartening to witness such a lack of organization and attention to pre-paid orders.
While waiting for our purchased items to be prepared, we decided to order some tea. The process was further delayed as there was only one person making drinks, resulting in a significant wait time. I ordered the classic milk tea with crystal boba, and while the drink itself was enjoyable, it didn't make up for the overall poor service experience.
Adding to the inconvenience, the parking situation during peak times was challenging, with limited space available. We ended up having to park on the street, adding an extra layer of frustration to our visit.
In conclusion, the combination of mishandled pre-orders, giving away prepaid items to other customers, slow service, and parking difficulties made our experience at Tealicious far from satisfactory. The tasty drink couldn't compensate for the overall lack of efficiency and...
