Tugboat Fish & Chips — Restaurant in Sacramento

I have been going to this restaurant for several years. The woman at the counter is always lukewarm. But the last time I went in, she was hostile rude, and threw my receipt at me. This was the second time she was beyond courteous. I ordered two pieces of fish with onion rings and four prawns. It used to be $17. Now it’s $25 and some change. So I was surprised when she said 25 and I said why is it costing so much? she grabbed the receipt and began pointing at the prices so there’s no more combo meals. So I said I just wanted to know why the price was so high. I wasn’t expecting that. Her response was to throw the receipt at me that will be the last $25 and change I spend there. I always tell my children we work hard for our money. We should be respected when we spend it. That was just beyond respect and there was somebody else at the counter when she did it. The food was good and hot and fresh. They charge extra for everything. I understand the reason why, but it’s still a turn off. Why not just charge the rate you want for your food instead of charging more for the extras? Since when did tartar sauce on my hush puppies become ‘extra’, these things used to be standard when we sit down for our meals. Love this place and have been taking my family for years and we used to go as a family with my parents when we were kids. Makes it hard to spend my money there after the way I felt the day we sat down and ate.

Nice little location for some Seafood, but it’s nothing special. As an update, they don’t have Red Snapper anymore, as one of the pictures would suggest. They only have: Pollock, Catfish & Tilapia.

My gripe is with the portion of fish (Pollock) I received. I only got one long piece & two small chicken nugget sized pieces which was horrible. I mean, why couldn’t I get normal sized pieces? The Wife who took my order wasn’t nice or mean, but some type of demeanor in-between.

In closing, I’ll try to find a different location for similar food before going there again. If I fail, THEN I’d go there again,...
